Review summary

This was our first cruise. We were only able to go on a cruise over spring break. I feel like Carnival should have anticipated the crowded situations and long buffet lines. Otherwise it was a good experience and we will go again.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Chaotic and late. Lots of waiting and confusion.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Long lines in buffets. Food was ok. Dessert was lacking. Tea was awful. Portion sizes in restraunts were small, causing people to order multiple plates. I think that more of the food buffets needed to be open. The lines were agonizingly long. However, the wait-staff were very attentive and made sure that everything was always clean. They were the ones that made everything else tolerable.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We tried swimming, however pools were either cold or too full. Walking for exersize was always a problem, as no matter what deck we were on, someone was smoking. Kid camp was definately not what I expected. My 9yr old hated it. She only went once and refused to go back. Very unorganized and daycare-ish.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
When not being raunchy and allowing inapropriate passenger behavior, the entertainment was good. The dance shows in the Ovation were really good. The dancers were so talented. The performers allowed and encouraged twerking and adult behavior in front of young children. It was really sad. I was unable to enjoy many events due to the constant boobs and ass that were being flashed and bounced around.

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
They were amazing and attentive. They knew our names. They are what made this trip worth while.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Everything was clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was always clean. Our needs were met at all times. I think it was a good size and I loved being able to see out at the ocean.

Ship tip

Get to the buffet lines early to beat the long lines.

Disembarkation

We were told to get off earlier than expected. The ship needed to sail to Spain. The cruise director was very determined to get us off hours early. It was very rushed. It was not how I imagined leaving.

We are in 1219 on our next cruise. Would love to hear more thoughts on what you thought of your room.

Sounds like cruising on Carnival is not for you.

Appreciate your detailed review. Sorry to hear that the youth program didn’t meet the needs of your daughter. Often times fellow passengers are the worst part of cruising. Sounds like Spring Break on Carnival isn’t for you. More family oriented times might be Thanksgiving/Christmas break. I also recommend you skip Halloween.
