Review summary

Worst cruise to date. Carnival markets their ship as fun ships, but they are trying to make them a party ship. 18 years drunk and rowdy in the hot tubs and a family near by had to call security. What did security do, nothing but ask them if they would please keep it to a minimum. Never addressed the underage drinking. Also, expect to stand in lines for everything, and I mean everything. Never have the lines on any cruise ship,or cruise line that I have been on, ever been so long. Be prepared because the lines are not just long, but they are everywhere you go. Had this been my first cruise, I would have never cruised again. Carnival is obviously cutting perks and trying to cut costs to maximize profits, but in the process they are only driving people to other cruise lines in doing so. I would advise only doing carnival if that is the only cruise that you can afford at the time. Trust me, pay the extra money and go with a different cruise line, it is well worth the money

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
No good activites to speak of

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Terrible

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
Great if you want your children and other children to run a muck

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
Here is where it really starts getting bad. Worst service ever, even worse than on the much smaller ships.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
The ship smelled like soured. Like it got flooded and had that mildew smell to it.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Smaller than you would think considering the price.

Ship tip

Be prepared for EXTREMELY long lines in every single thing aspect of the ship. Getting off at port was awful. However nothing comes even close to the breakfast and lunch lines. They were a nightmare!!! We waited 50 minutes for breakfast. This has to change if carnival wants to keep their guests returning. From here on out, I will not even consider cruising with carnival ever again. I have done many on carnival and wont even consider them again.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

3 out of 5
Port wasn't bad, but didn't do any excursion.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

3 out of 5
Very dirty. We did a private beach house so that made the port much better.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

4 out of 5
Went to Meghan bay and enjoyed a very pretty beach day.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

1 out of 5
Did not get off the ship at this port. I already did the fort, so there wasnt anything else to see.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Some of the most beautiful water anywhere in the world. You will not be disappointed with this port I promise.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Most people didn't follow the way you were suppose to be called to exit the ship and again total bottleneck and confusion. Carnival guests are the very worst about doing this.

Again we were on the same sailing as the OP and did not experience any ones like we were expecting. I find it utterly impossible for there to have been a 50 minute line for anything other than guest services. We never waited in any line longer than a few minutes the whole cruise. We were pleasantly surprised by that fact

Looks like the problem was it was an Easter week cruise—-busiest time for families to sail. Yes, Carnival has been notorious for long lines in their buffets. I’ve experienced it. I just avoid their buffet, choosing other food venues instead—MDR for breakfast and all the other grab and go food areas for lunch. And ALWAYS MDR for dinner. Does this influence us to not sail Carnival? Heck no! Carnival is actually the line that lives up to its name as the Fun Ships. We’ve sailed 3 other lines—Regent, RCCL, and NCL—but enjoy our Carnival cruises more.

Like someone said, if you cruise during spring break expect lots of drunk young people. Same as if you went to any of the other places that have spring breakers.

Carnival has a reputation as a party cruise line. It is debatable but it is not first time it has come up. Some are more tolerant to partying than other so some may not be bothered while others are.

Yet another review of drunk adults and out of control children. Glad i never sail on these type of ships

Sounds like you went during Spring Break! That’s a no no... we try to eat at off times as not to wait...you just need to be flexible, especially on the larger ships...

We had a great time on the Carnival Breeze last September. Would do it again tomorrow.

It seems like cruising isn’t for you. It’s not for everyone. Also, the time of year, length of cruise and departure port make a huge difference in the other cruisers on board. If you cruise during Spring Break, expect lots of college kids and drinking. Try a different time of year, cruises of 10 or more Days or cruising from San Juan or another port that is a little more difficult to get to.
