Review summary

We made the best of it. This was my 19th cruise, 2nd on carnival. The first Carnival the Dream we had the same issues. Bottom line I would NOT do Carnival again

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
We were traveling with a group of 12. 6 adults and 6 minors, We contacted Carnival 4 months in advance to reserve a table for 12 in the dining room. Needless to say they did not have it set up and had us at 2 different tables. one table for adults and one for kids. Another issues is the lines, it drives me crazy how Carnival cannot figure this out. The buffet lines were out of control, so much so we waited and left without eating.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
no adult pool. 2 small pools not enough room to accommodate as many people who were interested

Entertainment

4 out of 5
shows were ok, the cruise director Schwartz made the trip

Service and Staff

2 out of 5

I have never cruised with that large a group, but I can't imagine how wait staff would handle a table for 12. I think we may have had 10 at a table once and decided not to do that again. Dividing it into two tables may have made your dinner a LOT quicker. Did you ask the maitre d' if it COULD be changed to 12? Never seen a pool on any ship that wasn't crowded... I also can't imagine waiting in line at the buffet for so long that I would leave without eating...was the line not moving at all, was there some kind of problem (line down for some reason)? I have never had a rude or slow bartender - details? Who "portrayed" DR as a "private island (certainly not Carnival)?

Why would you think DR is a private island?

Sounds like you are just not a happy person. We were on the same sailing as you and did not experience any of your issues. Oh and by the way, we bought FTTF and were on the road at 8am.

What cruise lines have you sailed in the past besides Carnival and what are some of the differences?
