Nice ship, nice staff and overall had a great time!
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Shuttles come in and unload in uncovered area. You have to haul your luggage from there to building. While it is not a long haul, would advise bringing some large trash bags to cover luggage in the event it is raining so they do not get wet in case of rain.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Dining room food was good as were the specialty restaurants. Breakfast and lunch buffets are good as well. Evening buffets are very limited in selection and choices were not anything to write home about. Seemed like they wanted everyone to get a burger at Guys or get a pizza. I am the type that can eat anything at any time and I was really disappointed on the evening buffet choices.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Always something to do besides the casino. The lounge singers were great, trivia games, comedy acts, spa, etc.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The lounge singers were better that the singers in the theater shows. But overall, one could find a show or lounge act they liked.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Every service or staff personnel we met was friendly and helpful. Due to the fact that almost all staff comes from countries were English is not their primary language, some may difficulty understanding you or you them. However, in those few cases they got someone that could help.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Easy maps at each elevator, always cleaning. Only other tourist company that cleans as much as Carnival is Disney.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Little extra space with balcony over window only. Always cleaned each day.
Ship tip
I have booked inside cabin, cabin with window and now balcony. Each has their plus/minus besides the cost difference. Word to the wise, if you book a balcony make sure it is on the 7th or 8th deck. Ours was directly over the Piano Lounge and we heard the music loud and late at night. No good nights sleep for that room.
This was were the ship sailed from so did not explore port as we got in late the night before sailing. From what I could see from going from hotel to ship was the usual nasty coastal town stuff ranging from tattoo joints, t-shirt shops and bars. Looked dirty and run down. Doubt I would cruise from Port Canaveral ever again as it is an hour drive from Orlando airport.
Beach excursion was great. Would think that as many tourists are going there they would at least pave a road or at least afford a truck with an automatic transmission (or a guy that knew how to drive a stick shift). Other than the drive over, very nice sand, water and friendly people.
Do not go to Honeymoon Beach!! It is a small beach. You have to take a shuttle to the water taxi and it only goes over once an hour. When you get there multiple excursion boats come in and unload tons of people. You will spend more time getting to and coming back from the beach than on it. Go to Magans or have a sail/snorkel excursion (have done both and are great).
Been to San Juan many times so just shopped around Old San Juan. If you have never been, go and explore the fort. You can hop on the free trolley just outside the ship.
Went to Home Sweet Home excursion. Great staff, short drive, good food and drinks. Beach, lounge chairs, etc all nice. Only take a limited number so nice and quiet. Only bad thing was it rained off and on and wind picked up so we could not snorkel.
Picking up bags and getting through customs moved pretty quickly. Again, only negative of leaving this port is the hour drive just to get to Orlando airport.
