So here’s the problem. Apart from one very minor detail I would rate the cruise as very good. The detail? The entire aft end of the ship (especially at the 8th floor and above) smelled of sewage. This was not the imaginary “maybe I smell it maybe I don’t kind of sewage” I smelled it. The cabins next door smelled it. When I complained the staff smelled it. No one involved disputed that the area smelled like sewage. I complained several times. Staff came and inspected. They admitted they smelled it. They tried several remedies and none of them worked. So for a week long cruise I couldn’t enjoy my beautiful, expensive, aft balcony cabin. The staff gave me a $7 bottle of wine. How do you compensate someone for ruining their vacation? I took time from work and spent a lot of money on the trip. It broke my heart that this happened. I hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else Most importantly, when you smell sewage you are smelling a gas leak. On a ship. I really hope enough people complain so that Carnival fixes the problem and no one gets sick. Lastly, this was my 24th cruise. I’ve never signed up for any online board in which to complain. I doubt I’ll ever send another complaint.
