Review summary

Carnival doesn't enforce dress codes -- not at the $35/person steakhouse, not at the buffets, not on elegant night. It was frustrating to have girls in bikinis (and large women in bikinis!) walking wherever they wanted, even in line to the buffet, despite the dress code requiring shirt and shoes. Sanitizers were often empty at the buffet lines and no one enforced their use anyway. Food is mediocre. Best thing was the PG-rated comedy shows at night; I haven't laughed so hard at clean humor in a long time!

Ship tip

Do not get a cove balcony (at least not #2385). Just above us was some kind of working floor, so all night long we heard footsteps, things being rolled, and things being dropped. It was ridiculous. Glad I thought to bring my ear plugs.

I agree with you on people should cover up in the dining areas. I think it’s even listed in the rules. As far as letting it all hang out by the pool... the one thing I’ve figured out cruising is you’re probably never gonna see any of those people again and you should enjoy yourself. So if you’re comfy in that Speedo or bikini then go for it! I have found that I am most hard on myself (and I’m not big). Maybe next time I’ll let go more! 😊

I don't think I have ever seen anybody underdressed in the steakhouse. But I'll take your word for it. That would be totally inappropriate. I think the thing that bothers me the most is the men in the buffet line with no shirt on

Casual doesn’t mean dressing inappropriately. I enjoy being casual and wearing my flip flops but men with hats at a dinner table is not appropriate. Nor is a bathrobe and Pj’s outside of your own home or cabin.

It’s all about the $$$ if you want classy pay the bucks and go on that ship. Carnival is laid back about it but I will say I could not enter the mdr or the stake house before without a tie

Maybe if more people complained about others in bathing suits only in restaurants, more would be done about it.

There are two groups..the one's that enjoy classying up for a week and dressing up for their partners, and the "no one's gonna tell me I need to dress a certain way on my vacation" group. The one will always make the other a little nuts if they let them. I wore my white tuxedo with assesories that matched my wife's gown on our cruise last month. Was seated next to a couple in t shirts. We struck up the best conversation. Wonderful people with a different take on their vacation. Good for them. We won't stop over dressing, and those that don't like to dress won't stop cruising so we roll with it.

I don’t wear a bikini. Pajamas at the buffet wouldn’t do but have you been to Walmart lately they don’t wear the bathrobe! Forget formal night I am on vacation. Flip flops all the way for me!!!

I hear you on the dress code issue. We were on a Carnival cruise a few years back on people came down for coffee and danish in their PJ’s and bathrobes as if they were in the kitchen of their home. At dinner some guys wore their hats at the table. No one said a word. Can’t people show a little that they were raised with manners. Then again maybe they were not!

We LOVE people watching. Sometimes we'll make up the conversation we imagine they are having. Or we will try and guess what they do for a living. And YES I quietly judge people in my head. Then I look in the mirror and laugh and tell myself I have no room to judge. We also like to look for worst and best tattoos. Bucket of beer and a good shaded area and your set.

This just reminds me of people watching, which is part of the entertainment for some.

Don't discriminate....there are LARGE and small men in swim trunks with no shirts. Can be JUST as gross.

While I agree that everyone (including men) should wear proper clothing at the buffet, I’m not sure why you are calling out large women in bikinis. Should the cruise line have special requirements based on your BMI? I don’t want to stare at any half naked people while I am eating regardless of their size. At the pool, as long as your bits and bobs are covered, love yourself and wear whatever makes you comfy

Pretty much, but I have witnessed employees tell people they needed a cover up &/ shoes in lido buffet. ...even my friend's girls came back and told us they were told they needed cover ups. Maybe it depends who in charge that day. We do enjoy the PG shows. We walked out of an adult show years ago and never went back.

Royal Caribbean is very strict about no swimwear anywhere in the restruants.
