Overall the family agreed we "checked the box" on a seven day cruise. We had fun and went new places but seven days is a long time for any vacation and this wasn't the fault of the Cruise line.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Easy, everyone was nice and we flowed through quickly.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food was decent in the main dining rooms and the buffet. about what one would expect.
The steakhouse and Sushi were good. The Italian restaurant was below average and not worth the added expense.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Plenty to do on board, our family loved the Bingo and we played that almost every time the game was happening.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Children's Programs
Youngest is a teenager and he stayed with the family.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Virtually the entire staff is from another country while the passengers are almost all Texans.
The language barrier was challenging at times although we had very good experiences with them about half the time.
Overall, they "tried" to seem attentive for the most part.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Ship was great! Well maintained, comfortable and clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We had four people living in a 199 sq foot foot cabin for a week so it was tight which was expected.
Our Cabin was very clean and everything was in perfect working order. The service to our cabin was good and he tried to make our week living in tight quarters better every time he was around us.
We always had clean sheets and fresh towels, the water pressure was excellent and the room temp was ok.
Ship tip
Plan on having no wifi or TV.
The day you board, you pay full price for all drinks even though you may have purchased a "cheers" package, it doesn't start until the first full day. Drink the booze you bring aboard that night or have a $200 tab like we did.
This country is Poor and filthy. Took the "5 Star" resort excursion to Iberostar but it's really a 3 star.
it was clean but we had to go to the bar for our drinks the first few times until I heavily tipped a server who then gave us great service the rest of the way. Food was good there. It took almost an hour to get to the resort bc of traffic so our time was too limited.
Swells were too large to go to the main Port so they anchored on the backside of the island and used boats to get us there and back. We missed our initial excursion but made another one and everyone was able to enjoy the Stingrays so we checked the box on that one.
Loved it! Clean, organized, you don't get bombarded by the locals. We took a cab to a great local restaurant and had a nice lunch with excellent Wifi. "pancho's"
took the late excursion by catamaran to the "private beach" after a 30 minute snorkel and the guys on the boat were very attentive although there were 130 people on board.
The private beach had another 4 Catamarans with 130 people so it was a little tight but the beach was great, water was nice, beer was cold and everyone settled in and seemed to have a good time on our boat dancing on the ride home.
Did y'all do very much while on the boat? If you really didn't do much except eat and lay out, that might explain why it felt too long. As others have stated, 7 days is the minimum for me.
