Review summary

Overall, we got a great price on this cruise, but we found ourselves constantly comparing to our previous cruise & all-inclusive experieriences. For us, we got what we paid for, average accommodations, average food, & subpar musical entertainment. But we still got to enjoy nice carribean sea, breeze, and warm weather and overall good service on this ship.

Onboard Activities

Carnival rightly has the “funship” reputation & I think there is something for everyone of all ages. Problem with this ship is finding a place to be quiet...there is party music everywhere and almost all the time. Couldn’t go in the casino for the smoke...too bad. And even some of the venues near the casino we avoided because of the smoke. Pools, water slides, climbing apparatus, mini golf, movies, art auction (not my thing) kids/teen programs, etc. so much to do for all ages.

Ok, I gave this a 3 Star because the singing and music in general was not good, and often pitchy. Dancing so so. Best fun was the cruise director “Schwartz”. He was excellent & talented; a better singer/dancer than the show performers.

Room steward was excellent and full of positivity! We had freestyle dining and found the waitstaff inconsistent in service. Our best waitress was Amy and we didn’t get her til our last night...otherwise we would have asked for her every night.

Ship Quality

Shows it’s age in colour/decor. Several stains throughout ship on carpets. The spa area I found very unrelaxing in style and noted several areas with rust in doorways in this area.

Cabin / Stateroom

To be expected it is small, but Jaya helped keep it neat & tidy for us twice a day. The bed was comfortable & I slept great in here. A couple of times heard some motor sounds, but overall thought this was a very quiet room.

Ship tip

If you want peace & quiet book a quiet balcony room or get to the serenity deck early to enjoy a bit of you time before the crowds get too noisy.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

Felt safest to take the shuttle to town with the safety reports and all, but we did walk back mid day and felt safe. I don’t care for the constant bargaining & selling, but I didn’t let it get to me. We used this day to book our “discounted” spa massages so didn’t do much.

Less of the selling and definitely more upscale than Jamaica, but not as friendly. We asked our waitress for directions to a small beach walking distance from not the main strip...never found it & ended up going back to the ship early.

Cozumel, Mexico

Not sure why. But definitely felt most comfortable in this port despite the da t that all excursions going to Playa Del Carmen were cancelled that day due to a warning from the US government travel advisory. We did a lot more shopping this day, but went out of the port area. Still is not great shopping because the port is overrun with cruise ships, so things are overpriced. The best part of this day was finding our $1.50 Mexican beer at the story’s accriss from the port plaza and returning to the lounge chairs under the palm trees looking out at the cruise ships. Beautiful sea breeze & beautiful water!
