Review summary

Overall we really enjoyed our cruise with the exception of the loud music below our cabin. My husband had a birthday while we were on board. The crew really goes out of their way to make you feel special.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We arrived at the pier at our schedulled embarkation time. There were a lot of people but the line moved fairly quickly. I did get a bottle of wine confiscated. It said it as Spumante. However there was a little sticker on the bottle that said beer. It was a malt beverage. Who knew!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The main dining room food was mostly good. My filet mignon was almost raw. I ordered medium which is supposed to be warm and pink. Also, the lasagna was meat sauce and cheese. No noodles to be found. Guys burger place was great. The Pig and Anchor BBQ was good as well.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We used the hot tubs daily. Often they were full and we had to wait a while to get in. Some of the ones on the lower decks were full of kids.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The country music show was ok. We really enjoyed the comedian and the Illusionist.

Children's Programs

No kids in our party.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our waiters were top notch! Jayat and Tatiana were very sweet, personable and attentive!

Cabin / Stateroom

We had an aft balcony cabin. It was a nice cabin, spacious. The balcony was larger than a regular balcony but the back wall slanted inward so the larger area was mostly unusable space. When I booked the room I didn’t realize it was directly above the Limelight Lounge. This means we had to listen to loud music with a booming bass until after midnight every night. All I could think about was the fact that I paid extra for this. Won’t do it again.

Ship tip

Check out your room location before booking.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas Did not visit port

We live less than 100 miles away. We go to Galveston often. We drove straight to parking lot.

Key West, Florida

We did the Hop on Hop off Trolley. Went to the Mel Fisher Museum, the Hemingway House and Southernmost Point. Had lunch at Sloppy Joe’s and bought souvenirs at Margaritaville. I would like to go back when I had more Time. We couldn’t get off ship till 10:00. Late arriving to port. There wasn’t a lot of time to sightsee.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

Not much at port except souvenir shops. We had bought an excursion to go on a catamaran and snorkel but it was cancelled due to potential bad weather. Never saw any bad weather. We bought from an independent contractor. I hope I get my money back. It was $300+. I think they probably didn’t have enough people to do the excursion.

Nassau, Bahamas

Went to Atlantis. Had a great time! Lunch was included. We had batter fried fish and conch fritters. Very tasty!

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We were scheduled to disembark at 11:15. Whole lotta waiting since we had to be out of our cabin by 8:30. However, it went faster than expected and we were able to get off about 10:00 or a little after. Once we got outside, the line for the shuttle to the parking lot was VERY long. That took quite a while.

Same here. One time we ended up under the galley. It was horrible! The noise started in the wee morning and went on late into the night. It was the only cruise where we felt tired when we left! Lesson learned for us! Now when we book, I look on the decks above and below.

Not sure if this was your first cruise or not...we always strategically pick cabins with cabins above and below us. Never over or under the clubs, galley, or any main area where people will be late at night. We also always try and get mid ship or forward. Floor 7 and higher is great. We have even been on 6 just over a quiet area. But typically we are 10 or 11 and never had a problem with noise. Hopefully next cruise you won't run into that. Glad you had fun overall.
