It was a good experience, even for someone who doesn't do things like this that often. The only thing that really bothered us was the tobacco smoke drift from the casino. I don't understand why they let people smoke in there or install a better ventilation system to avoid having it drift out of the doors. If the casino were on the end of the ship instead of in the middle, it would be easier to avoid the tobacco smoke.
Embarkation

Lines were long and the wait was long, but it went fairly smoothly.

Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was good, but don't expect it to be like what you're used to eating in Texas. One suggestion...change the name of the jalepeno poppers to cheesy jalepeno cornbread. They were good, but they were not poppers.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Just needed more quiet areas in the A/C to just play card games or just visit. Everywhere there were tables was just too loud.
Entertainment
Not interested in this particular aspect of the cruise.
Children's Programs
No kids.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The people were very friendly and polite. Our steward Anjana kept our room clean and neat and always greeted me by name if we saw each other in the hallway. Our wait staff in the dining room, Bawa, Siti, and Anka, were great! They provided fast service and kept the tea and water glasses full as well as knowing our names and preferences each night. We never felt rushed even though we had the first time for dining.

Cabin / Stateroom

The room was very comfortable and easy for 2 to be in. The only suggestions...the mattresses were a little hard and have some cushions or something that can make a sitting area in the window. I love sitting in the window and looking out.
Ship tip
Be prepared to wait. Carnival does everything they can to make getting on and off the ship quick, but it takes time to move 4000 people. The app is helpful, but don't depend on the chat feature. We had a lot of long delay times before people would receive our texts. It was great for keeping up with activities and such though.
We did Dunns River Falls and the Bobsled. They were a blast! The guides were very proud of their island and did a great job keeping us on track and time. The only negative, the wait time was ridiculously long to get off the boat and on the bus.
We visited the ruins of Tulum and again a great experience. Our guide was very passionate about the Maya and was very helpful in making sure we knew what to avoid and what was authentic in the shopping area. He also was very good at making sure we stayed safe and with him.
