Review summary

Carnival is a good value and we always have fun. These ports were really enjoyable! The staff knows you by name, excursions good, I only wish I could decided the tip based on service and not be expected to pay $90 per person per day.

Ship experiences

Onboard Activities

Pools are very small and overcrowded on this ship. If you have small kids, water world is great, but for teens and adults it takes up too much space on ship and its not open on rough sea days.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Great comedy & shows for the entire family. Dani & her brother played excellent country music. She inspired our daughter to pick up the guitar again and our teens made sure they went to every venue they were playing each day!

Service and Staff

Imade at red frog pub, red shirts, was extremely helpful & friendly! He knew our names by the 1st sea day & took great care of us all (7 guests). He even served us well at comedy club! Teti at dining room was very friendly. I wished the 8pm dinner had more prompt service, the wait time between courses was long and the after dinner shots were served before main course arrived each night. There should not be &15 cork charge for my own bottle of wine.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Very clean & maintained well. Pools could be larger

Cabin / Stateroom

Balcony rooms are well worth the money. I was surprised that we had to opt for am & pm room cleaning; it is expected and included since we pay large service fee. 1st time cruisers may not be aware they can choose Both!

Ship tip

Carnival is great cruise line & good value; lots of FUN!

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas Did not visit port

Stayed in Houston

Montego Bay, Jamaica

Take red licensed plate taxi to Doctors Cave beach, good service & food at this beach club. Beach is clean & water is beautiful!

George Town, Grand Cayman

Dolphin & stingray excursion expensive but we'll run. I really enjoyed the Dolphins, but could have done without stingray sand bar. Too many boats and people squashed on the sandbars, and it took around an hour out of our excursion time to get you to/from sandbar.

Cozumel, Mexico

Paddle board & snorkel excursion fun! Our guides were nice & knowledgeable, but basically begged for tips stating they only get paid by tips. Hard to believe!

Disembarkation

Seemed to be efficient but when it came to 9th floor to use elevators, they forgot to send them and after 30 minute additional wait they realized they forgot about us. Staff told us there should have been attendant on our floor. I do recommend carrying you bags off, it saves about an hour.

Tips are already included in the overpriced drinks and we don't eat in the main dining room so the only tipping is to the cabin steward.

jimverunsc don't be a cheapskate! These people work hard. I wish they would make tips part of the cruise fee, and the only way to remove is yo cancel your cruise.

Wow. They work their tails off and don't earn a great paycheck. $90 bucks is just $90 bucks won't break the bank. They deserve more

jimverunac    7 years ago

tips can be removed from your statement. we always leave our tips to who we think earned them usually just the cabin Stewart and it's always less than they suggest you leave. don't feel guilty, they all draw a paycheck.

jlskelton    7 years ago

Obviously a mistake by the OP.

$90 per person per day??? I am just paying $90 for my whole seven days. 90 for me and 90 for my daughter but not 90 each day
