Review summary

Our favorite part of the cruise was probably the music/dance shows. The performers were really good - saw every show but the country one. We also enjoyed the family friendly comedy shows. Our room steward was excellent. Really loved the Blue Iguana food - which it had been open more. The thing that could use some improvement was the main dining room food and the buffet offerings during non-peak times. The main dining room food just didn't seem as good as our prior cruise with carnival. Their famous melting lava cake was cooked all the way through both times I had it =( and my salmon fillet one night was not cooked through. We ended up eating in the buffet two nights rather than the main dining room & I noticed that their dinner offerings were 50% the main dining room offerings for that night. The buffet was also 95% closed at certain times during the day (couldn't even get a sandwich). One other thing that was a disappointment was that my husband & I were seated alone at an 11 person table despite being surrounded by other mostly empty tables with just a single couple seated at them. The social aspect of the main dining room is one of the things we enjoy most about cruising and was sorely missed this cruise.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Food was ok. Best food on the ship was the Blue Iguana, but it was only open for 3 hours in the afternoon for lunch type items.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Loved the trivia games & dance lessons. We also played ping pong & did the activities on the sports deck. Loved the dive-in movies!

Entertainment

Really enjoyed the live music in the open areas in the evening. The musicians were excellent & very interactive with the crowd. Family comedy was good also! Live shows were great!

Children's Programs

We love the cove balcony rooms - gorgeous views & big enough to sit out on. If you are not traveling with others, make sure you don't get a room with connecting door. We did this time and there was definitely a loss in privacy - we could hear everything going on next door.

We took a taxi to 7 mile beach (got off at the first resort) and spent the day there. The water was gorgeous and there was easy snorkeling with a close-in reef. We saved money (versus ship excursions) and were not pestered by hard-sell vendors at all. They are set up well for excursions outside the ship sponsored ones there and had no problem getting a taxi back in plenty of time to get back on the ship. Also taxis & resorts took US dollars with no issue.

I love Carnival, but on my last cruise, they sat us at a table for 4 (my husband wouldn't let me ask to change tables on the first night), and ended up eating alone 4 of the evenings. Very disappointing. I think that the waiters should notice things like that and ask if the loners want to join another table.
