Review summary

This was our first and last cruise with Princess. The ship was crowded and we were unable to enjoy several activities because there was no room or seats. The food was average. We have traveled on other cruise lines which were much better. The only positive was the staff. All were very helpful and pleasant.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Staff were very good. Food was average.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Due to a crowded ship, seats were not available at many activities unless you got there at least 30 minutes prior. Could not get a chair by any of the pools.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Michael Minor was good.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff were the only positive thing about this cruise.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Ship layout is awful. Certain elevators only go down or up so far. Ship was clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cabin was fine. Steward was very good.

Ship tip

Avoid this ship. Too many people for the amenities.

Ports of call

I suggest you try a different Princess ship. They are not all the same.

As a Princess fan, I actually agree with a lot of this review. The Caribbean Princess is different from other Grand class ships because Princess added a whole deck of cabins. The venues are the same amount and size but with a bunch more passengers! I sailed on it during Covid when it wasn’t full and thought it must be really crowded when at capacity. Also Princess insists on using their small night clubs for major acts when the main theatre is free. Sure you can give up some of your cruise to arrive ridiculously early to get a seat but why doesn’t Princess just put the entertainment acts that will obviously draw a thousand people into the theatre instead of a 200 capacity room and piss off 800 of their guests. I love Princess but a little planning on their end could make it so much better.

Do you think it will be different on another ship?

Cruises are crowded and yes it can be a pain to arrive early for activities but it’s the same one every cruise line. I feel PCL does a decent job with their show and activity schedule. Good luck finding a cruise line that meets your needs.

as far as seating goes for activities and shows.... you're going to find this on EVERY SINGLE CRUISE LINE. you have to get there 30 minutes prior for a seat. ships are now sailing at full capacity

Over crowded venues seems to be a common theme post pandemic on larger ships. Maybe try a smaller ship next time. Good luck.
