Review summary

The crew of the Caribbean Princess was overall polite and welcoming. Canadian ports of Quebec and Halifax had beautiful foliage and the weather was chilly. It was nice to have a different port every day. The end of the cruise was 3 at sea days which seemed 1 day too many on the ship.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was flawless. We submitted all documents ahead of time and were assigned the 'green lane.'

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Variety of food was good in both the restaurants, deck cafes, and in the buffet.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5

Entertainment

We did not see any of the speakers or magicians. The big show with dancers was cancelled due to extreme turbulence.

Children's Programs

We did not travel with children. There were only 9 children on board.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The service was great in all areas except for the pizza station on the pool deck. The main pizza guy was not amicable and came across generally annoyed.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
There were whiffs of sewage in the hallways and in the cabin restroom. The paint/film on the inside of the elevator door was peeling.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The extended balcony was very nice especially on days at sea.

Ship tip

You can sign up for on the ship activities at any of the big touch screens around the ship once you scan your medallion.

Ports of call

Quebec City, Quebec

5 out of 5
The falls were beautiful!

Halifax, Nova Scotia

5 out of 5
Peggy's Cove was not that great. There is not much there and we were given 30 minutes after driving quite a ways there. The guide gave interesting details about Titanic cemetery.

Portland, Maine

5 out of 5
Kennebunk port excursion included great foliage. Unfortunately, when we stopped in town most of the shops had already closed. The guide was very knowledgeable about the area.

Boston, Massachusetts

5 out of 5
The land and sea excursion was interesting.

Newport, Rhode Island

5 out of 5
Be advised the mansion tours now require a Smart Phone APP and ear buds. The description of the mansion excursion with this info was updated after we booked it.

Brooklyn, New York

5 out of 5
The guide was extremely knowledgeable about the area. We took a land and sea tour. The boat provided great views of Ellis Island.

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

All we did at this port was disembark.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We were in one of the first groups to vacate the ship. The luggage was easy to retrieve and the process was quick.

Wow that ship must be in great shape if all you could find wrong was some peeling paint in an elevator.

So they still have not fixed the sewage smell in parts of the ship. We noted that several years ago.
