Review summary

This cruise took us to some very interesting places. There were a LOT of sea days and the weather up there is often cool, foggy and rainy. We were glad we went but will probably not do it again. Greenland was very interesting!

Embarkation

I do not recommend the Brooklyn Terminal. It is disorganized and not easily accessible from airports and Trains. Figure about an hour or more to travel from any of the airports or train to the terminal.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food in MDR varied from good to very good. We found and managed to keep the same team the whole cruise. Buffet food was mediocre to good and it was very difficult to find a place to sit. Both Sabatini’s and Crown Grill were VERY good and service was excellent! Steamers was very good and Planks was fair.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The production shows were very good. The comedians were the best we’ve seen on a cruise ship. The musical entertainment was also very good. I would suggest to Princess that they not put the loud vocal band in the piazza, you couldn’t hear yourself think at guest services.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship is old and showing signs of wear. The staff works Extremely hard to keep her as clean as possible! She needs a refurb. The Casino needs a complete air handling reinvent. Smoke and the smell went up the stairwell and into the theater.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Obstructed ocean view cabin was a bit older but the bed was very comfortable. You could see outside and had light. Shower very small as typical in the old of a ship. The automatic closet lift came on when you didn’t need it and turned off when you were still using it. Overall an acceptable cabin.

Ship tip

Be Prepared for the Brooklyn terminal experience to be poor.

Ports of call

Nuuk, Greenland

Capital of Greenland. Be aware when you book the Fjord Tour that there is also an island tour that basically goes nowhere! You don’t usually see wildlife in Greenland as they are hunted for food. We booked the fjord and they tried to make us go in the island tour, they did refund our $ but nothing else from Princess for wasting 2 hours of our shore time at this port. Buy any souvenirs from Greenland HERE! Not much to buy in other Greenland ports.

St. John's, Newfoundland

5 out of 5
I really liked this port. We did a Trip Advisor walking tour, and it was great! The shore excursions to Signal Hill looked good, also. I’m very glad to have gone there. They even had Newfoundland Dogs to greet us at the port!

Nanortalik, Greenland

5 out of 5
The iceberg boat tour is a MUST do! Book ASAP!!!!! The smallest and prettiest of the 3 Greenland ports! Watch for the icebergs as you sail in and out!!

Halifax, Nova Scotia

4 out of 5
Fun port where you can just walk up to the Citadel. Eat the Digby Scallops at a local restaurant! They are so good!

Qaqortoq, Greenland

4 out of 5
Interesting pretty small town. It poured rain so we didn’t do much.

Sydney, Nova Scotia

3 out of 5
Small port not all that much to do unless you take a bus tour.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Disembark was an absolute zoo! The Brooklyn Terminal seems unable or unwilling to make the process flow. Not sure we will ever sail out of Brooklyn again.
