Was not the most exiting cruise. Not much to do during the day on the ship. Sea days were pretty boring. Not many things going on in the piazza, like our previous Princess Cruises.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Medallion made embarkation super easy. We were on the ship in under 5 minutes
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Crown grill was great. MDR choices were not that great. What we ordered was pretty good, but not great. Buffet for breakfast was the same thing every day. Went to check out lunch and dinner options and it was not great. All food in the buffet was served. Took a long time to get drink service. There were not as many people on drink duty due to them serving the food. Most times I had to go to the drink station and wait for someone to serve me, as there were not any self serve stations. I assume this was due to illness on the previous cruise.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
It was quite cold and there were also many days that the pool was closed due to rough seas.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Entertainment was just ok. Definitely geared toward the older crowd.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our room steward was amazing. He kept everything clean and always greeted us by name, with a smile on his face. Waiters in the MDR were very attentive.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
It was easy to get around and the ship was very clean. As there was a breakout of norovirus on the ship before we boarded the ship, they did any extra sanitization of the ship before we boarded. They had everyone board late to give them more time. We brought Clorox wipes to sanitize our cabin ourselves. I have to say there was not any dirt on our wipes after wiping down every surface in the cabin
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Cabin was standard size for a balcony room. Plenty of storage with a huge closet, cabinet for folded clothes and 8 drawers for smaller items. Our suitcases wouldn’t fit under the bed, but we put them flat on the closet floor, making it easy to put dirty clothes right in the suitcase for packing.
Our excursion was cancelled due to the weather. A storm in the area caused the ship to slow down and the Boston port to close the morning we were to dock. We got into port 6 hours late. Not much left for excursions, so we took a taxi to fanieul hall and Quincy market. Watch some street performers and did some shopping. Walked to mikes pastry shop as we saw a lot of people carrying boxes from there. The building was full with a line down the block. We decided we didn’t need a pastry that bad
Walked to the village green to hop on the island explorer. Free buses that take you to Acadia National Park. Stopped at sand beach, thunder hole and Jordan pond. Great views. Headed back to town for another lobster roll and some shoppers by before getting back on the tender boat to get back to the ship
Took a bus tour to Peggys cove. Quaint little village. The fall colors were beautiful. Then we walked around town, along the boardwalk to have a lobster roll and a beaver tail. Did some shopping at pier 22. Great prices on shirts, etc
Took an excursion to Alexander Graham bell museum/bedeck. The museum was kind of interesting, as I didn’t realize just how many inventions Bell had. Bus tour was beautiful
Took a panoramic island tour with Co federation bridge. This is the worst tour I’ve ever gone on. The island tour consisted of riding around the island through potato fields, while the guide talked about potato farming. 10 minute stop at the bottom of the bridge for pictures and a stop at a gift shop.
Took an excursion to a cheese factory, glass blowing demonstration and an alpaca farm. It was a fun and entertaining excursion. Glad we took it, as there didn’t look like there was much to do in town
Took a city tour with airport drop off. This was a great option. We got off the ship, picked up our luggage and headed to the bus. Toured around town and were dropped off right at the airport
My favorite port. It was like being in Europe without the long flight. It’s a beautiful city. Took an excursion to St Annes canyon and a winery. The canyon was beautiful with 3 suspension bridges over the falls/river.
