Our second cruise, both on Princess. It was relaxing, fun, educational and a food extravaganza. The canal was all we hoped it would be, and being 10 days we really felt we had got away from it all.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was super slick and easy, and our luggage was waiting for us in our stateroom.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The first night dinner was a disappointment, my medium steak was VERY rare and my baked potato was cold. But from the new on it was back to the great food you'd expect from Princess. The buffet choice was wide and yummy and we opted for breakfast and lunch there rather than the the main dining rooms.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There was plenty going on on board but we were happy to chill and not get too involved.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Amazing shows, and how great to be able to order a cocktail from your seat and sup it whilst enjoying the entertainment!
Children's Programs
We were a couple with no kids.oh my goodness
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Oh my goodness, the service was something else. From the steward who seemed to have magic abilities and know when we were outt so he could sneak in and refresh the cabin, to the waiters who remembered our names and the bar staff who remembered our fave cocktails, it was top notch.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
It was all clean and lovely but just a little tired in places despite a multi million dollar refurb. We were on Regal Princess last year for our first cruise and probably were spoilt rotten! Cleanliness was very good. On our disembarkation day there was a lot of touching up going on so the management are really on it.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We opted for club class mini suite and it was perfect for us. Large closet, a bathroom WITH a small bath, a balcony with 2 chairs and footrests and a small table (felt larger than Regal Princess balcony but I may be wrong!) and WONDERFUL bed and bedding.
Ship tip
The aft pool area has 2 sun beds on either side above the pool with the most glorious views. If you can stretch to it, do the Ultimate Ship Tour and see the workings of the ship including the bridge, galley and laundry.
This cruise was all about the transit for my husband and he wasn't disappointed. We took advice and stayed on board to experience it both ways and as we'd heard that most people get off we'd have the ship to ourselves. We loved it but so many people we met had a great time doing the full transit that we kind of wished we'd gone on that excursion.
No excursion but we got off to see what was going on at the port and there was a huge hot tent filled with touristy tat. But watching the comings and goings on the port side was fun.
