Review summary

Excellent overall with just a few minor issues. We like Princess above all the others. The food, service, and cleanliness was top notch. Getting on and off the ship was a breeze and the excursion choices were many.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Excellent. Parking was simple, we waited less than 5 minutes to check in and then walked right on the ship. Our luggage arrived promptly and there were plenty of tables open for lunch.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The buffet was really good with plenty of options. The main dining room service was good but the waiter was rushed. They could of used more help. The food was excellent and always served hot. Good variety. The steak restaurant was amazing. The steaks were tender, cooked perfectly, and plenty big. We had an all inclusive drink package that was way better than other cruise lines we had sailed with.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The pools were clean, the fitness center was the usual, and the walking track was good. Only one basketball hoop and the golf was just a putting green. The Zumba and dance lesson instructors were excellent.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The trivia and game shows were fun. The comedian was ok. The singers and the big show production singers and dancers were really good. The magician was so so.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our waiter and busboy were great. They both were very funny too. We had no complaints. The buffet staff were quick to clean tables, get coffee or anything else you needed. Once the casino staff got to know you they made the gambling experience even more fun. The cruise directors staff were fantastic. Our room steward kept our room super clean.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was really clean and easy to get around on. The ship had a few mechanical issues but the captain kept us well informed and the problem was fixed quickly. A passenger had a medical emergency and had to be airlifted off by Coast Guard helicopter. The crew did a great shop handling this and the captain kept us informed of what he was doing. He also explained he would make up the time and we would be back on schedule.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a mini suite and it was terrific. 2 TV’s a sitting area, balcony, and very large bathroom with a bathtub. The bed was large and comfortable. We never heard any noises from adjacent cabins. Everything was clean including the carpet.

Ship tip

Get to the shows in the theater at least 30 minutes early.

Ports of call

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Awesome as usual. The snorkeling was in crystal clear water and the bbq was great.

Cartagena, Colombia

5 out of 5
We did an old city tour and except for the annoying street peddlers it was very good. The guide was knowledgeable and really explained things well we went up La Popa and got to see the fort and monastery as well as other famous local landmarks

Panama Canal (Cruise Into Canal)

4 out of 5
A long day and a lot of waiting detracted from this incredible piece of engineering. We took the ferry tour thru to the Pacific. It was a 1 1/2 hour bus ride to get to the ferry and then over 200 people crammed on the boat. Then it started raining and there was limited covered area. After 5 hours on the boat it was another 1 1/2 hours back. You will miss you dinner seating. The canal itself was amazing.

Puerto Limon, Costa Rica

5 out of 5
Absolutely outstanding. We did the joint rain forest/zip line excursion. Very educational, our guide was really good, and you should do this one. Our female guide was named Josh. The excursion includes lunch.

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
We have been here many times and it is a shame how overdeveloped it is. There were 5 ships in port at the same time and it was crowded. We took the Fat Fish waverunner tour to Stingray City, snorkeling, and through the mangroves. It was a lot of fun and made the day. 2 duty free stores at the pier with great alcohol prices.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We got off exactly at our appointed time, went right to luggage and through customs with no line or wait. We were done in 15 minutes and outside.
