A beautiful relaxing trip

Sail Date: August 24, 2008

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

THE SHIP WAS VERY IMPRESSIVE BUT WITH TOO MANY PEOPLE AND NOT ENOUGH HELP ESPECIALLY WHEN EATING IN THE BUFFET. NO SEATS AVAILABLE ALL OF THE TIME EXCEPT WHEN IT WAS VERY LATE. SMOKING IN THE CASINO WAS ATROCIOUS AND NOT KEPT VERY CLEAN. THE WAITERS IN ALL RESTAURANTS WERE TERRIFIC EXCEPT FOR ONE WHO SERVED ON FOR OUR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION ON MONDAY NIGHT, AUGUST 25TH. HE WAS RUDE AND IGNORANT AND WE REALLY DIDN'T HAVE A GOOD CELEBRATION AND NOTHING SPECIAL WAS DONE AND WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD HAVE A SPECIAL SURPRISE. WHAT WAS THAT?????? WE COMPLAINED TO THE MAITRE D' AND WE DO HOPE THAT WAITER WAS CITATED IN SOME WAY FOR HIS RUDE BEHAVIOUR. THEREON WE ATE IN THE OTHER DINING ROOM AND HAD 2 GREAT WAITRESSES. THE SHOWS WERE GOOD BUT NOT OUTSTANDING EXCEPT FOR THE PIANO MAN NIGHT AND THE FINALE NIGHT. FOR SUCH A BIG SHIP, ALL THEATRES, DINING ROOMS ETC SHOULD BE LARGER TO ACCOMODATE THE PEOPLE. ALOT OF WALKING TO GET TO EVERYTHING. THE ADULT POOLS ARE TOO SMALL AND AREN'T ALWAYS USED BY THE ADULTS. THE FAMILY POOLS ARE TOO SMALL BUT MOST OF ALL PEOPLE ARE SLOBS AND LEAVE TOO MANY THINGS AROUND AND THERE IS NOT ENOUGH HELP TO CLEAN UP AFTER THEM. THERE ARE DEFINITELY NOT ENOUGH BEDROOMS, YOU HAVE TO WALK MILES TO FIND ONE AND REALLY SMALL. YOU WET YOURSELF IN THE MEANTIME. IN OTHER WORDS, FOR SUCH A BIG SHIP, THERE SHOULD BE MORE AND BIGGER OF EVERYTHING TO HANDLE ALL THE PEOPLE YOU BOOK FOR IT. OTHER PEOPLE WHO WE MET ALSO COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS.

Pros: The balcony room and scene

Cons: a very big ship with too many people and not enough help

Recommends Caribbean Princess? Yes!

Service and Staff
THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO WOULD REALLY GO ABOVE AND BEYOND IF AND WHEN YOU SAW THEM WERE YOUR HOUSEKEEPER FOR YOUR STATEROOM AND THE 2 WAITRESSES WHO REALLY WERE TERRIFIC IN OUR DINING ROOM. AS I SAID BEFORE CUPS, PLATES, DRINK GLASSES ETC WOULD SIT ON THE FLOOR, TABLES AND ANYWHERE AND THEY JUST SAT THERE AND WHO KNOWS WHEN IT WAS CLEANED UP. THERE WERE HARDLY ANYONE COMING AROUND ASKING YOU IF YOU WANTED A DRINK OR ANYTHING. SERVICE ON THE DECKS WERE TERRIBLE. YOU MIGHT HAVE JUST GOT UP AND WALKED FAR AND FEW TO FIND A PLACE TO EAT EXCEPT IN THE FAMILY POOL AREA WHICH HAD THE BUFFET AND GRILLS ETC.
Children's Programs
WE HAD NO KIDS BUT THE ACTIVITIES TO ME SEEMED TOO IMMATURE. THE QUALITY OF THE FACILITY WAS POOR AND IT SEEMED THAT THE PARENTS DID A BETTER JOB WITH THEIR CHILDREN THEN THE STAFF. NEEDS LOTS OF IMPROVEMENT.
Ship Quality
AS I WROTE ABOVE. A BEAUTIFUL SHIP, WORN OUT ALREADY FOR BEING SO NEW. AND EVERYTHING SHOULD BE BIGGER AND MORE OF THROUGHOUT.
Cabin / Stateroom
FOR THE PRICE WE PAID I THINK A BIGGER ROOM WOULD HAVE BEEN NICER BUT HAVING THE BALCONY AND THE PRIVACY WAS WONDERFUL. THE VIEW WAS SUPERB BUT WE WERE RIGHT BELOW THE TRACK AND KIDS WOULD JUST BE RUNNING ALL OVER AND MAKING LOTS OF UNNECESSARY NOSE. NO ONE EVER SUPERVISED ANYTHING.
Entertainment
THE BANDS ON THE DECK WERE GREAT BUT SINCE THE AREA WAS SO PACKED AT ALL TIMES IT WAS HARD TO JUST STAND UP AND LISTEN. THE THEATRE WAS ALWAYS OVER PACKED AND THE VARIETY OF SHOWS WERE THE SAME AND THERE SHOULD BE MORE OPTIONS. THE VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES WERE MORE FOR KIDS AND EVEN IF IT WAS AN ADULT ACTIVITY IT WAS IN THE KIDS AREA OR WAY TOO SMALL. AGAIN FOR BOOKING THAT MANY PEOPLE ON THIS SHIP EVERYTHING WAS TOO SMALL AND CRAPPED TOGETHER AND FAR TO GET TOO.
Food and Dining
FOOD WAS TERRIFIC, NOT ALWAYS HOT THOUGH BUT A GREAT VARIETY AND SPECIALTIES. MORE ON A PLATE WOULD BE GREAT THOUGH, IN OTHER WORDS, TOO SMALL PORTIONS. MORE RESTAURANTS OR BIGGER ONES WOULD BE NICE.
Newport, Rhode Island
A CITY OF SAILBOATS. NOT ENOUGH TIME TO DO TOO MUCH. TOURING THE TOWN WITH SUCH HISTORICAL AND NEW HOMES BUT MOST FOR SALE. A TOWN THAT IS TO VISIT AND MAYBE VACATION BUT ONCE IS ENOUGH.
Don't Miss: THE SAILBOATS.
Boston, Massachusetts
THIS IS A VERY BUSY BUT BEAUTIFUL CITY WITH LOTS OF HISTORY AND WE ENJOYED THE TOUR AND THE DUCK TOUR BUT SAW NO DUCKS.
Don't Miss: ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING IS A JOY IN THIS TOWN
Halifax, Nova Scotia

Bar Harbor, Maine
WELL NOW THIS WAS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO LIVE, SLEEP, EAT AND TOUR. WE ENJOYED THE LIGHTHOUSE TOUR IMMENSELY AND WOULDN'T HAVE MINDED IF WE COULD HAVE VISITED MORE IN THIS TOWN BUT NOT ENOUGH TIME.

Saint John, New Brunswick
THIS WAS AN OKAY TOUR. REALLY NOTHING TO SHOW OFF ABOUT. TOO MUCH WALKING FOR NOTHING I GUESS. THE TOUR WAS TO THE FALLS AND WAS OKAY.
