I noticed that Princess charged us the $16 crew appreciation on the 14th day which is the day I disembark… Is this new? I thought we are only paying gratuities based on number of nights, not number of days on the ship. To me, that’s double-dipping. The guests embarking will also pay gratuities on their first day though none of us received service for a full day. Anyone has any insights? Thanks.

This is standard procedure on all cruise lines. We always prepay our gratuities to avoid these charges at the end.
