Almost a great cruise by Dbdavis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I was disappointed in not being able to go to Cozemul due to bad storm in the gulf. Other than that the trip was very nice.

Embarking was pretty easy. Once... by beachjunkie

Sail date: /
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas

Embarking was pretty easy. Once we got our room I notice some of the areas near the room had a smell of sewage. Cabin Our cabin was 9654 spacious ocean view balcony. There was lots of storage space for clothes. Ample cabins for additional storage. The room was pretty clean. Except the balcony you can tell the stewards doesn’t give that area any attention and we did notice rusting which showed the ships age. Windjammer The food was ok it did the job of feeding us but you had the same food choices for every meal which made it really boring. It also didn’t have any flavor. My theory is they made it this way so you can pay extra to go to the specialty restaurant instead. Giovanni’s We ate there the first night the food was excellent. My son had the gnocchi with cheese sauce he raves about it. He also loved the pancetta it is a must try. Service was great. Chops grille We had reservations the second night. I was looking forward to eating here since I booked it. Did not live up to my expectations my steak was over cooked. I splurged on lobster thinking it was going to be a whole lobster or a lobster tail not so. It was a small part of the lobster with meat you can eat in 3 bites. The sides was nothing too special. I would save your money and eat at Giovanni’s for 2 nights in a row. Minstrel dining We ate there the last night food was pretty good. Service was also good. I had the duck and shrimp cocktail it was a welcomed changed from eating at the buffet. Entertainment I went to the comedy show was not my taste I walk out in the middle of it. I also tried to participate in the solo single meet and greet it was self started which means it didn’t happen. I wish Royal Caribbean had more activities for solo and single cruisers. Overall the ship was okay. Definitely beats being at work. The crew was very nice. The guests services was not as helpful I had a few minor problems they brush me off. My sure any last minute changes you make with them before you board the ship it is in their system and bring all confirmation emails of the changes.

This cruise was reasonably priced and we'll worth every penny. We were treated like royalty the whole 5 nights. Exceptional food, staff & entertainment. Daily iteneraries made it easy to see what was gooding on everyday.

Enjoyed the cruise. Not the greatest but still nice ship with great food. Was surprised by the room service quality even though you had to pay. It was worth it. Last day was the best as I met up with some great people. Wish we would have crossed paths at the beginning!

Cruise was good; Cozumel not so much by AtlCruiser1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Ship and most of staff was great. Food was above average. All very comfortable. I was very disappointed by the small crowded beaches with murky water (Florida beaches are much better) so avoid that expense unless you really need the beach.

Mostly good....but....room for improvement by Michibilly

I liked the cruise; I was a single cruiser and purchased my trip at the 'buy one get one 1/2 off' deal. Pricey, but the best way to get a cabin with a balcony; so worth it. The line at the latte concession was always long, and a 10-15 minute wait was common. For a ship the size of Brilliance of the Seas, two or three latte stands would have been a lot better. Also, if you buy the non-alcoholic drink package, you will have even more waiting: your get your Cokes at the bars, and you will wait behind all those getting drinks, and probably tipping more, so you are the lowest priority and will often have a long wait. I would not buy that package again as the buffet opens at 7:00 usually, and is open until 9:00pm, and only closed for a couple of hours during the day for changeover. You can go in there and get as much cola as you want and put it in your own cup. They need cups with chips in them, and unattended drink stations like Carnival. Other than those minor annoyances I liked the cruise and would use RC again.

Friendly and helpful crew. The ship was very clean, just designed poorly. They also need better options for snacks outside of the dining room.

Brilliant Experience by teamhutchens

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was an enjoyable cruise, there were some ups and downs. The food of course, started tasting the same after the 3rd day. The ship was clean, no mechanical issues, great staff! Tampa embarkation went very well, no staggered boarding like we had on CCL, but we did get there at 10 and were taken right on board. This was very new to us and very enjoyable. Once on board, we hit the WindJammer, the pizza was definitely better than CCL, but there were only 2 choices of pizza. The rest of the Windjammer was nice, there was suckling pig along with your normal foods. The salad bar was good, but I liked the one on CCL Fantasy class ships better. The layout of the Windjammer was very nice with islands for different foods. We had an inside stateroom that was supposed to have a trundle bed for Kyle. We saw that there was pullman's in the room and waited for the trundle bed until after supper. We got back and a pullman was brought down from the ceiling. NO GO. Contacted Guest Services, but they said the trundle bed was against the safety rules. We advised that Kyle might fall from the bed and that was a safety issue. They offered to separate us into different rooms, still no go. We advised that we would just pull the mattress from the pullman and put it on the floor, again against the safety rules. We said we would work it out. Came back a bit later and a trundle bed was in the room. The MDR was nice, Miguel and Jose took very good care of us, we ate there 4 fo the 5 nights. The Windjammer had a great lady Lizzie taking care of everyone out there. Rockwall, Chris climbed the Easy and Medium levels. Mini Golf - we did not do. Casino- we went there one day, smoking is restricted to one area of it. You feed the machines with money, not like on CCL where you used your S&S card. There were VERY few kids or people our age on the ship, mostly an older, more laid back crowd. Kinda missed the hustle and bustle of the CCL ship. Key West and Cozumel were like Key West and Cozumel. Really enjoyed the SeaDays, even slept in a lounge chair. The Solarium was very nice, the sea water was different, this was the first time I have been in the pool on a ship. Very interesting with the extra buoyancy of the sea water. We had a great trip overall, even saying that, we will probably go back to CCL for our next cruise or try a NCL cruise. Brian

Love cruising Royal but will... by Candicruiser

Sail date: /
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas

Love cruising Royal but will never go on Brilliance again. So many details got pushed aside that ultimately made things unpleasant and disappointing. I expected more from this cruise since I've never been disappointed before but I may be looking into a different cruise line for the next one.

Ship: Brilliance of the Seas

Excellent crew, they truly were Amazing. We had the best cabin attendant Julia, and she kept our cabin spotless. Rookie, the show was great, although they could have picked better Schooner Bar Entertaiment. And what is with Royal Caribbean and the 1 to 1.5 hour of Karaoke? Was packed every night yet so few guests get to sing in the short window of time. Food was very good.
