Review summary

Honestly the days at port were the best days, gave you a chance to get off the boat and stretch your legs!!!  Ha ha....the Brilliance is a nice boat but small and has very little amenities, the staff is super nice but my 12 year old son did not have much to do...basketball for 5 days was not cutting it....wouldn't do Brilliance again with my kid.  Maybe adults enjoyed better...I didn't, I had one bored kid on my hands!!!!!  With the amount of money spent I could've had a luxurious vacation on land...oh well, it was my first cruise and I was not that impressed.

The cabin is small but worked for my son and I....loved having the balcony, well I paid for it....sat out there many days and enjoyed the view especially when pulling up into the different ports!

Ship tip

Enjoyed Giovanni's Table....was my son's favorite place to eat....

My 14, 11 and 9 year old sons were never bored. They always found stuff to do. I barely saw them.

Carnival cruise lines are amazing for every age group. There's ALWAYS something to do, and it's EXTREMELY kid friendly. There are age appropriate kid groups/activities... so your 12 y.o wouldn't be stuck with toddlers, or toddler activities.😬 Don't give up! I'M HOOKED ON CARNIVAL!❤

You need to book on a larger ship. That is one if their smallest and older ships. You need to book on a ship that has Flowrider, your son would have a BLAST!

Apparently you need a mega ship like Oasis or Allure for amusement park amenities. Try a much larger ship.
