Review summary

We did not know what to expect having sailed on 6* and 5* ships. We were totally bowled over by the ship and it’s crew, difficult to fault anything other than unable to reconfigure twin to a double and the cabin needed a lick of paint. Would definitely sail with them again especially from Port of Tyne. Ports were very good with enough time in each of them to get a good feel for them. Crew were amazing made us feel valued and welcome.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Port of Tyne pulled out all the stops no queue to speak of straight through and onto the ship within 10 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
All of the restaurants provided top quality food. Good selections. Good portion sizes.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Excellent gym and 2 pools. No fancy rock climbing or things like that. The usual games, quiz, bingo etc.

Laundrette

3 out of 5

Lots of washers and driers and only £2 a load but why not just make it complimentary

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Ships performers some of the best we’ve seen. Their shows were well choreographed and presented with good variety. Guest performers were again of a high standard and again better than most we have seen on 6* ships, CUNARD, Princess etc

Children's Programs

No Kids club

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Every member of staff excelled, made us feel special remembered our names and favourites (drinks. Etc). We’re always available and ready to help.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
For an older ship layout and design were good. Public rooms were especially good. Well furnished and immaculately clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
5073, comfortable and roomy. Twin beds could not be reconfigured into a double. Good bathroom with bath and shower over, usual sticky curtain! Cabin was a little tired but nothing a coat of paint couldn’t rectify.

Ship tip

Pay for the drinks package even if you don’t drink alcohol

Ports of call

Newcastle Upon Tyne, England

5 out of 5
Lots to see and do but nothing much in port area. Take local transport or a tour.

La Coruna, Spain

5 out of 5
Always a pleasure to wander the streets and seafront of this town.

Vigo, Spain

4 out of 5
Enjoyed walking around the town once away from the port just a couple of streets back but very hilly not for those with walking difficulties.

Lisbon, Portugal

5 out of 5
Always a great city walkable from the ship. Good hop on hop off. We did city tour and Belém which didn’t go far but took a long time. We did see most of the main sites

Oporto, Portugal

5 out of 5
We preferred this to Lisbon maybe as it was our first visit. City tour proved popular and we saw all we needed to.

Lorient, France

3 out of 5
Not too much to do here. Paid for the ships shuttle into town but not a lot there other than the submarine dock.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
As easy as embarkation but there was nowhere to sit and wait for our call to disembark so lots of people standing around for some tome
