Review summary

Rough seas, but lovely nonetheless! Captain Carl Smith was often seen about the ship and is well liked by both crew and guests!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
A bit chaotic, due mostly to our earlier than suggested by Azamara arrival! We were not alone as quite a line had formed even before we arrived. Once terminal doors opened we were quickly processed then seated until ship was ready, about 1:30.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was very good, not exceptional except for Aquafina. Prime C was mediocre to say the least, with the strip steak in the main dining room much better than its ribeye.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Due to its small size, there are limited activities on the ship. There is a small pool, two hot tubs, and a well equipped fitness center, and not much else to do but relax!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Music and entertainment were excellent. The Onward band is phenomenal. The singers and dancers only added to the enjoyment, and anyone whose ever sailed with Eric DeGrey knows he’s the best cruise director in the business!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Azamara staff and crew are among the best at sea! Our cabin attendant magically transformed our cabin twice daily without our ever seeing him do so. Waiters were eager to please and the guest relations staff answered every request.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The Onward is an old smaller ship. If you’re looking for “gee whiz eye popping new,” this is not for you. However, it’s a beautiful ship, well maintained, and perfect in many ways.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Club Continent Suite: perfect size, more storage than needed, and very clean!

Ship tip

Don’t miss the evening entertainment! And arrive on or after they tell you and you will probably walk on!

Disembarkation

If people would only listen and follow instructions, it might go more smoothly, but even so we were off when we were told we would be. No problems.

Seems like lots of cruises experience rough seas last weeks...

No wonder there were rough seas. If the captain is strolling around the ship all the time, who the heck is driving the boat? LOL

It’s always nice to see the captain engaging with passengers
