Review summary

Overall I would rate Azamara as above average. Azamara was transitioning to new ownership. Their website was a disaster and unusable. Pre-cruise communications were apologies. I had to call to get cruise documents. Not available on the website. I tried to book excursions a couple of weeks before the cruise only to discover most were not available but suddenly became available a few days before the cruise. Excursions were very expensive through Azamara. On board the crew was well trained and above average. Rooms were comfortable, clean and room steward was very helpful. Daily communications were very good. Negatives would be some of on board entertainment.

Included drinks are very good and plentiful. They keep your wine glass full in the restaruants.

Onboard Activities

Iceland is cold, therefore no one used the pools deck.

Entertainment

First 3 nights were outside entertainers. They were great. Then the entertainment became the cruise director, assistant cruise director, and piano player. Below expectations. The Azamara singers and dance were not great, below what we have seen on other ships. The White Night was clearly a dance party for younger people and not aimed at the age group of the majority of travelers. Don’t bother to wear white. They had an outside entertainment band. They played for a short time in the Living room but usually played for the cruise director to sing. Overall, entertainment was below what I expected.

All of our interactions with the crew were above expectations. Can not say enough good things about the staff.

Ship layout was great. Easy to get around. Always cleaning.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5

Room stewart went above and beyond. Bathrooms were very small especially the shower, don't drop your soap. Balance of the room is typical for balcony cabin.
