Review summary

Absolutely enjoyed our Azamara Intensive Greece cruise. This was my first cruise with Azamara. I will definitely cruise Azamara again. I highly recommend Azamara. The service was superb!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation went very quick, efficient and smooth. Upon pulling up to the Terminal, porters quickly tagged our luggage and took it away. Before I knew it, we were on the ship and in our room. The luggage arrived shortlytherafter.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Wide selection of food was available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Every night the dinner buffet had a different theme. For example, Italian, Asian, Turkish, Greek, Indian or Mediterranean foods were served. The selection of desserts was overwhelming! As far as drinks, the ship had a huge selection to satisfy your taste.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The only onboard activity I used was the pool and hot tube on the main deck. Everything was fine. . Plenty of lounge chairs available on the pool deck.

Entertainment

I was only able to attend one night of a stage show so it's hard for me to rate this category fairly.

Children's Programs

Did not bring and children. N/A.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service and staff were absolutely phenomenal. Top notch service all the way around Everybody was great, the waiters, cooks, cleaning personnel and ship personnel.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was kept very clean. The staff was constantly sanitizing and cleaning the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The room was very clean and kept very clean on a daily basis. The room size was acceptable considering it was on a ship. It's not exactly big by any means. The bathroom is on the tight side. My wife and I had no problems with the bathroom but if you are on the large side, it will be extremely tight for you to move around in the bathroom. You are on a ship, space is limited and tight. Do not bring large luggage bags. Once again, space is limited especially in a Club Oceanview Stateroom. But like I said, the room was very clean and consistently kept clean during the entire trip. Excellent job.

Ship tip

Just do it. The whole trip was awesome!

Ports of call

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

5 out of 5
I visited Piraeus (Athens), Greece on my own, not through Azamara. I enjoyed Athens very much. Excellent historical sites to visit.

Mykonos, Greece

5 out of 5
Enjoyed Mykonos very much. The people were very friendly and welcoming. Visited the island of Delos for a half day tour of the ancient ruins (did on my own, not through Azamara). Waked around Mykonos Town (Old Town). Took pictures of the windmills and had dinner in Little Venice in order to see the sunset. Enjoyed Mykonos very much.

Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey

5 out of 5
Visited the ancient Roman city of Ephesus, House of the Virgin Mary, Temple of Artemis, Basilica of St. John and Ephesus Museum. Had a private guide in order to see all these sites.

Patmos, Greece

5 out of 5
Enjoyed Patmos very much. Quiet island, as compared to the other islands visited. Visited Monastery of St. John, Cave of Apocalypse and swam at a nearby beach.

Lindos, Greece

5 out of 5
Visited Lindos Greece on my own. Took a bus from Rhodes Town to get there. Acropolis of Lindos should not be missed when visiting the island of Rhodes. Rhodes Town is very historical. Visited three museums and the Street of Knights.

Aghios Nikolaos, Crete

5 out of 5
I like this port very much. Very clean. Took an Azamara excursion to the Palace of Knossos and Archeological Museum of Heraklion. The excursion left on time, actually early. The tour guide was excellent.

Souda (Chania), Crete

5 out of 5
Beautiful port. Very clean. Visited numerous museums. Toured on my own.

Santorini, Greece

3 out of 5
Santorini was very touristy and the most crowded port we visited. I would not want to be here in high season. Very expensive island. My wife and I least liked this island the most. Spoke to some locals in Athens who agreed with our assertion on Santorini. Visited Thira, Oia and Akrotiri Archaeological site. Toured on my own. Hiked the caldera from Thira Town to Oia. Also visited the Museum of Prehistoric Thira before going to the ancient ruins of Akrotiri.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was very quick, efficient and smooth. Just like the embarkation process. No problems to report.

Hi thanks for this review we are sailing for the first time with Azamara in Dec. We are doing the 17 day Panama Canal trip. I have some concerns re cabin size in particular the bathroom. We are in a. Club Balcony Cabin on deck 7 room 7042. We have been offered to bid for a suite upgrade but can't see what deck they may be on. The other thing was do we need to upgrade our drinks package we like to drink premium brands and love a very classic dry martini before dinner... Any comments you have on these concerns would be much appreciated. Sounds like you had a fantastic holiday ... Oh our transfer on disembarkation is booked for 10.00 am having docked at 7.00am hope we are not hanging around the port for a lengthy period. Kind regards Gymbunny 2
