Very disappointed by JennieReed

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Singles/Friends

The boat and cabin OK. Staff rather abrupt, probably as it was at the end of their 8 month contract and they could not wait to finish. Food nothing special and very limited wines with the evening meals. Liked the places visited very much and the other passengers were a good mix. As a single person no effort made to help me at meals etc and would certainly not recommend to singles.

Excellent experience by Docntx

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

having only had experience with ocean cruises, this was a good opportunity to "get our feet wet (not literally)" with river cruises, and, it could have not been better. We were in the "older" Avalon Affinity, but it was in fantastic shape, everything worked exactly as expected, down to the wonderful shower.

The meals were wonderful. mini complaint that soft drinks were extra at breakfast. (Seriously?)

Looking at itineraries for the future.

Cruise from Vienna to Budapest by JimandDian

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

We had the most wonderful time on our cruise. The boat was very clean and in good repair. Our room was great. The food was very good, and the crew was the best. Very polite and eager to please. The cruise Director was wonderful and put together great excursions at each stop.

Budapest to Amsterdam cruise by Janart2

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

We met at Hotel Continental in Budapest, drop off luggage around 11AM then went to the local bazar for great shopping. Back at hotel to wait with others going on cruise( got to talk and meet some then that became friendly group of 12 during cruise) boarded about 4PM. Tip: keep small carry on with you as you may get your room before your luggage gets to you.  Meals were very good. They serve  coffee and cake at 3 to 4. Excursions were good but lots of walking on cobble stone streets so bring good walking shoes. It was very cold for us in May, some days in 40's and 50's so plan to layer up and have waterproof jacket for top layer. Affinty has a small library and sitting room at back of ship which is great for playing cards or talking story with others on cruise. Machine for make your own coffee, lattes, hot chocolate and tea was wonderful. On board guest zither demonstration and German singing group were excellent. Don't miss the mechanical music box museum tour it was fantastic to see. Yummy

Only about 128 people on ship so it's easy to meet people. Open seating at meals , so just ask if you can join a table, easy to do on this cruise ship.

Left to your own to arrange at mealtimes.
