A good cruise, we did have a 4 hour delay in Porto due to a technical fault. Not sure i would go on Aurora again though. But certainly most of the destinations were very good.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Pretty quick from the time of arriving to getting in the cabin took around 1 hour. The check in desk were a little disorganised and slow. The last cruise the whole process took 15 mins ! . But bags were waiting at the cabin when we got there so all in all pretty good.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
We mainly ate in the buffet and never had any problems getting food. What we had was decent. The only issue was the lack of coordination, there was a roast meat with roast potatoes but no veg! We ate and drank in a few other places and service was generally friendly and polite.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Always plenty to do on board. Live sport if you wanted to watch it. Good films being shown.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Highlight were the Opera Boys who I thought were excellent, shame they were only on for 45mins, but they were doing a few shows so understandable.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Couldn't fault the staff, all were helpful and friendly. Cabin steward went out of her way to help out on one particular day.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Common areas were always clean and tidy. It was easy to get around the ship. The buffet area could get over crowded at times as it could be a little disorganised. One previous cruises they have always been quite strict about hand cleanliness and it did seem a bit lax on this ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Cabin was great, this was the fist time we had the added sofa in the room. It did make the cabin far more comfortable. The balcony was functional but could do with some TLC. Plenty of space to hang your clothes. Was nicely located just of the midships stairs and lifts.
Ship tip
This was our 5th cruise and we have had some rough crossing, this was our first on Aurora, now the ship did seem to suffer with a lot of movement. The seas were moderate with some for 3 - 7 winds so it was by no means a mill pond, but i think t suffered more than other ships we have been on.
What a wonderful place, our second visit. This time we opted to see it with a guide and we realised how much we missed on the first time. A wonderful port and you can easily fill you day here. If you are going solo do some research first as its easy to miss some of the hidden treasures such as the railway station.
