Review summary

This was the last leg for us in the RTW Southampton/Southampton Cruise

Embarkation

2 out of 5
We arrived at 11ish wanting to drop off our cases and meet friends for lunch but this was not available it was gone midday before we could leave our luggage anywhere. Never not been able to do this before, we weren’t looking to check in just leave the cases!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Food in the dining room was very good except far too many green beans but the buffet was the worst of any ship we have been on (33) and the only ship where I have seen starters & things served in the dining room the night before reappear! The crew is mostly Indian and have their own menu. There is no ice cream served free on this ship. The evening buffet did serve some but on an added table where the tubs were not in a cold cabinet and unless you got there as they arrived they became soup ! You can buy ice cream ! Drinks were cheap by comparison.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Lots of lectures and classes for painting, languages, bridge, etc. also Duplicate Bridge with a Director.

Entertainment

5 out of 5

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Staff mostly Indian including senior staff who were very lacking in performance compared to other ships.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Body of ship layout is nice but it’s an old ship and the cabins whilst clean are very tired. Buckets all around the ship due to leaky pipes. They did regrout the bath the day before we disembarked after 3 months on board!!!

Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip

P&O could do better but they are a lot cheaper than most cruise lines especially with no tips. Think it was good value for money, drinks were reasonably priced and entertainment excellent, especially the Headliner shows. We did the RTW and would do it again despite the jaded cabins and the lax service it was an excellent cruise.

I don’t eat ice cream my review is for what I think people would like to know ! Ice cream 🍦 is so cheap to make and their desserts in the café were grim. You make it sound like the left overs were rubbish this was not the case - the leftovers were over catering for the numbers; some excellent dishes.

You should give p&o a miss in future. Still see your comments as racist. At least the crew do not have to eat left overs and their crew mess and bar facilitates out shine other cruise lines. Have you recovered from paying for ice cream

Not racist at all but their standards are not the same as ours and it showed. The comment crew mostly Indian also relates to the left over food which on other ships goes to the staff canteen but the Indian staff according to our steward didn’t eat western food but had their own curry menu.

Stick to other cruise lines. Don't understand the need to comment on crew being Indian. Smacks of racism. Life changing event having no free ice cream
