Great cruise, liked the ship. Would do east to west on any future transatlantic due to time changes.

Review summary

This was our first time on Anthem of The Seas, had wanted to do this class of ship for the North Star Extended Experience, bumper cars and I Fly. Our 2nd transatlantic cruise with Royal. Our only complaint is that they do the time changes at 2PM. Why not 2AM when everyone is sleeping? Seems the transition would have much less impact on people if this was done. Future bookings of Transatlantic cruises will be done East to West. Overall, we enjoyed the ship, staff was great, ports were new for us and we had good tours.

Embarkation

Easy, Easy process, no issues.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We stuck to the Windjammer, which we felt was hit or miss at times, and the Solarium Bistro, which we love. 4 stars due to Windjammer food.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Loved the bumper cars, and North Star experience. Entertainment was good. Solarium pools and hot tubs are great.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We thought the ship had a great band, dueling pianos were good. Comedians were great.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I think the staff did a great job all around, friendly, very attentive. Santiago was a great room steward.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was very clean throughout. While this is not our favorite ship layout, it is well done, easy to navigate.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin had plenty of room & storage, well laid out, bed was comfortable. Absolutely no complaints.

Ship tip

Make reservations for Solarium Bistro in advance for dinner reservations. The food is excellent, but you do need to reserve in advance for dinner.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

We only boarded the ship here. The view of the Statue of Liberty and New York skyline was fabulous on departure day!

Funchal, Madeira

Wow, wasn't what I expected, very interesting tour (East Madiera), having not been in this port before. Was worth it.

La Coruna, Spain

4 out of 5
A new port for us, very interesting, love the walled city of Lugo. (Historical City of Lugo tour).

Le Havre (Paris), France

5 out of 5
We visited Honfleur and Deauville. We really like Honfleur having visited prior. Deauville was interesting, but time there was very limited on this tour.

Southampton (London), England

3 out of 5
We only disembarked at this port, did not tour here. Rented a car and toured Bath, Salisbury, Stonehenge on our own over 4 days. Later returned here and took a train to Liverpool for another 2 days.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation is pretty fast these days, had no issues.
