Review summary

I enjoyed the ship - it is quite stunning. Some of the features need some fine-tuning: the sound system for the deck movies sounded tinny, and one evening the movie was delayed with no updates due to a sporting event being broadcasted instead. I do commend the staff for maintaining order when some unaccompanied minors were disrespectful to the buffet staff. All in all, I enjoyed the cruise, and looking forward to my next.

Embarkation

With the app, embarkation was a breeze!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Never ate in the main dining room - was told since I'd cancelled the daily gratuity (I like to pay my own), I was could not dine in the main dining rooms. I don't know if that information was accurate. Buffet selection was standard, and not very seasoned. Capital Grille for lunch was not spectacular - portions very small (I think I had 5 tater tots). Izumi was a very good experience. There was no way to get scooped ice cream, that I could find, outside of the main dining rooms (I could have tried room service I believe).

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I didn't do much this time since I was traveling solo. I did enjoy some table tennis.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
I only went to the show at Two70. Balloon drop for AOTS' 8th anniversary was 35 mins late from posted time. Although fun, waiting for the event with so many people standing around made the Royal Esplanade very hot, and some were coughing with no masks. Some guests began to leave the area before the balloon drop took place.

Children's Programs

I was traveling alone.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Room steward Abdul was awesome. Became concerned about repeated maintenance visits to my cabin. I was able to get the situation resolved and waiting for my FCC to be mailed to me.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very nicely designed and very well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It was small - as expected for a solo cabin. I did enjoy the coziness. I would have liked to be able to angle the TV relative to how the bed is positioned, but not critical for me.

Ship tip

Solo traveling is fun, but I will travel with a friend next time. I will likely book AOTS again soon.
