Review summary

This was the first time we have gone on a cruise as a family. We really did love it. It was a great adventure and we made many memories. I spoke to several other travelers and we all agreed the food was good probably better than average but it didn't blow us away compared to other cruises we have been on. The staff was top notch for the most part. We loved all of our servers especially Suban our waiter. Our only complaints were that the boat seemed a bit crowded at times. Also the biggest draw back was the number of unsupervised teens especially later at night. They were often loud, rude, and obnoxious. I might be getting old but I remember cruising when I was a teen and would have never dreamed of behaving the way some of the kids did on this ship. Also this might be me getting older and more conservative and I'm sure my 13 year old son would disagree with me but the number of women in thongs and skimpy swimming suits was a bit shocking. Also the one thing I have found about every cruise I have been on is every port of call I feel rushed. I feel like the clock starts ticking before I even get off the ship. We might look into a cruise that goes to one port of call for more than a few hours. Final summation the staff, servers and ship were all a delight and we would very much consider going again.

Embarkation

Not knowing what to expect or where to go it went very smoothly

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
This was my family's first ever cruise experience I have been on several others. Me and some of the other travelers all agreed the food was good but we were not blown away by it either. We all had better food experiences on other ships. The service for the most part was excellent.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We tried to do a bit of everything. We found the sea plex to be a bit to crazy and kind of ruled by older kids. We did do Bumper cars and the rip cord which was totally awesome. We would have like to done some other activities but they were mostly booked before we had a chance.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The shows were all well done.

Children's Programs

2 out of 5
We really didn't get a chance to participate in many kid programs and thought it could have been advertised more. Also the large number of unattended teens with zero parental supervision was a big problem. They were rude and obnoxious and the curfew for 13-16 year old kids should not be 1am. This was by far our least favorite part of the cruise. Our children who are 9 and 13 did not feel comfortable making friends and were very hesitant to go off on there own. Largely because of the behavior of many of the children on board. One child right in front of my wife and I flat out told my 13 year old son he could not get on the elevator. He shut right up when we all walked on. Something needs to be done about this. If my wife and I go on another cruise we are strongly considering an adult only cruise.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
With the single exception of our first night of dining. We got moved and we do not know why but it was a blessing in disguise. The entire staff was really great. Suban our waiter was exceptional. He made us feel right at home and we truly enjoyed his company and his service. Also Milan our instructor on the ripcord experience was so fun and enthusiastic he really made the experience remarkable.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was a 10 out of 10. It was easy to find our way around after less than a day. It was always well maintained and clean. Out of the several cruises I have been on I think it might be the nicest ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was much bigger than we were anticipating. I think partially because it was a handicap accessible cabin. It did seem a little worn and the bathroom did have a slight funk to it but all in all it was really fine. The room safe was very easy to use and I felt comfortable leaving my valuables there.

Ship tip

Book activities way in advance as we were not able to do many things. Get to the dining areas early as they get crowded. If you want a good spot by the pool get there early as they fill up fast. We think the drink package was totally worth it.

Disembarkation

When I saw the line I was worried as we self assisted with our own luggage. I was actually quite surprised we were off the boat and through customs in less than 30 minutes.

Thanks for sharing! We haven’t done Anthem of the seas yet but it’s my goal to try every Royal ship! We’re you able to use the Royal app during your cruise??
