Ship experiences

Food and Dining

We did Wonderland one night and Coastal Kitchen one night. Both were amazing and I highly recommend. The main dining experience was good. I did not like my entree one night but everything else was good. If you don't like something, you can get something else and the staff will go to great lengths to make sure you leave happy. Windjammer breakfast - they have an omelet station and avocado toast which were very good plus lots of options. Lunch was just ok. We found the Solarium Bistro buffet for lunch a little better (smaller and less people) since we were usually in the solarium around that time unless at port. Bartenders were all great but if the pool bar is busy you may have to wait. Schooner bar martinis are a must have.

Onboard Activities

We had some high wind two days that limited the North Star so we didn't end up going on it but those that did didn't seem that impressed so I was ok with it. The solarium is lovely. Plenty of seating - it's kept very clean - no loud kids. The pools and hot tubs are nice. The Flowrider was really fun - try it!

Entertainment

Spectra's Cabaret was not good. I enjoy artistic theater and musicals but this was awkward and felt dated. We had already seen We Will Rock You in 2017 and wanted to do other things so we didn't attend that again. They should update to something new. The piano player in the Schooner bar was awful. We left because he was so bad and others did as well. The performer in the English Pub was really good though so we were very happy when we found him! The band in Boleros was also talented and got a lot of people dancing.

We didn't get any towel animals - no big deal but odd, right?

Cabin / Stateroom

Our first time in a junior suite and loved the bathroom set up with toliet/sink on one side and shower/tub/sink on the other. I mentioned to our room attendant that the shower did not have a caddy for shampoo/conditioner/body wash and it was only in the tub. He only brought small bottles of conditioner. I hadn't brought any from home. I ended up putting shampoo in a coffee mug to use in the shower and put the body wash on a wash cloth before starting the shower. It was better than leaping across the bathroom to the tub cabby! The balcony was larger and had better chairs than we are used to with foot rest and a little table. It was a great spot for coffee in the morning and sunset pictures. Having access to the Coastal Kitchen for dinner was a nice perk of the Junior Suite as well.

Ship tip

If you go into the jewelry store, you probably won't come out without having bought something.

We did self assist so walked off with our bags. Besides having to walk down the long line and snake around, it went quickly so I never felt like we were waiting. It's easier as long as you aren't on a high floor fighting for an elevator.
