Review summary

This was a great starter cruise to my back-to-back and a great Cruise in general.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was a bit more crowded than I thought it would be, but I think that was because people are showing up way before their arrival time. I was traveling with my mother who needed wheelchair assist so we were able to go right through.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I really do believe Royal Caribbean stepped up their game with the food.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There's a lot to do on this ship from a skydiving simulator to bumper cars and everything in between. You won't get bored.

Entertainment

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
My mom and I had an accessible stage room which was a very nice size it also had an automatic door, which was a wonderful thing. My one issue is the virtual balcony screen had connectivity issues throughout my cruise.

Ship tip

This advice is for anyone about to set sail on any ship. Be patient and allow for social distancing on the elevators as posted.

Ports of call

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

3 out of 5
CocoCay overall is a beautiful Island and has a lot to offer for able bodies. RCI needs to step up there accessibility on this island for those with limited mobility. There are special mats that can be rolled out. That will allow people in wheelchairs and walkers to go right up to the water's edge. Maybe RCI are trying to come up with some solutions, but if they haven't done it by now. I'm not convinced that they are going to.

Nassau, Bahamas

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
I knew that this was going to be a prolonged experience because my mother was going to need wheelchair assist for disembarkation. I had no idea it was going to take as long as it did. RCI needs to reevaluate this process.

I just went on Mariner of the Seas with my Mom in a motorized wheelchair and everything went great. On and Off both smooth as well as every staff member seemed to go out of their way to help her. My only comment about a few small problems were from rude passengers who would push in front of her at elevators... and block her entering elevator. I wondered how they would react if they were treated with such disrespect if they were wheelchair bound. Anyway, I'm very sorry to hear you had any troubles.

I disagree with you ! I was there on December 4 ,2021 with my sister that was in a W/C and they had all kind of accommodations for people in W/C , maybe you did t look into or ask what they have. They had lift chairs to put people into the pools, they had sand buggies to push them over the sand, they had water noodle floats and life jackets to float around water or pools in , they had huge W/C accessible bathrooms, W/C had first in & off ship and always go to front of lines for food and much more ! I have been on other cruise lines and they never do as much. I suggest you look into it on your next cruise. I hope you did have a good time on RCCL.
