The excitement and hype building up to this cruise certainly did not meet the expectations and standards that I have experience on all of my previous Royal Cruises. I'm not sour on Royal but won't be visiting Anthem of the Seas anytime soon if at all.
Embarkation

It was like a ghost town. Nobody to greet you, direct you or help you while boarding.

Onboard Activities

We traveled with a 1yr old and there was only one pool that she could use due to the fact that she is not potty trained. I totally understand that, but the pool was closed 6 of the 7 days of the cruise.
Entertainment
Traveling with children did not allow us time to enjoy.
Children's Programs

We used the teen club for our 12yr old son and it was amazing for him. Great planned activities and the staff was outstanding.
Service and Staff

It was very evident that our server was very new to the position with many mistakes. Our room steward didn't have our connecting rooms set up and the crib that was requested was not there either. Both needed to be requested again.

The room was clean and updated. It was a little tight with kids, but should be expected
Our only excursion that we booked was cancelled. We arrived late and when they reworked the schedule for the jet skis, the other ship that arrived before us was given all the time slots and none were left for us. My son was pretty disappointed with this
Cruise tip, things have changed because of the pandemic 😷. I suggestion is roll with the waves 🌊. I’m guessing that the port you were planning to visit may have had a spike in the virus 🦠. Therefore it was just not safe to get off. The cruise line has no say in most of the changes. Let’s roll with the waves and enjoy cruising. Getting upset changes nothing but your blood pressure.
We went on this same cruise and had a great time . The ship was very clean and all the staff went above and beyond . Not sure why the comments said no one was around to help since from the minute we entered the port and went inside there were workers that guided and directed us and offered help. The shows Frankie Valli and the Beatles were fantastic. Our room attendant and our wait staff were the best. With restrictions maybe it was not the best time to travel with children but I think the ship was great .
Sorry that you did not have the experience that you were looking for but in current environment travelling with young children these types of things do happen and should almost be expected.
The anthem of the Seas it's always been over- hype. Nevertheless I was very impressed with the ship and my single cabin we just tiny but plenty of room for an old man. The ship had a lot to explore things to see and do but a lot of them are not conducive to an old man who is overweight. I did however enjoy this ship especially the dog house
Thanks for the review. We’ve always had a good experience with Royal Caribbean. There are many better options for vacations with children than cruising with the current Covid restrictions.
