Review summary

Our second cruise on Anthem, we are thrilled to be back aboard. A beautiful, and unique ship class in Royal Caribbean's fleet. She is my personal favorite, and we have 20 cruises on Royal (various ship classes), and 6 additional on 3 other cruise lines. The ship is a comfortable ride, even in rough seas, although this trip had some of the smoothest I've seen in this part of the ocean (I'm a retired Naval Officer, and I was shocked how smooth the Atlantic was off New England and Canada during late October. This was not normal.) We'll do this itinerary again, but perhaps during the early fall months, to have a better chance at getting into Saint John. Even with the loss of the port, we loved the cruise.

Ship tip

The ship is beautiful, and very diverse. It is architected for cold weather cruising, so there are a lot of indoor spaces. Make sure you get around the ship. There are many unique things found only on this ship class.

Gorgeous port. You'll tender here, but it's quick. If you can get up to Cadillac Mountain, the views are spectacular. Make sure you try some blueberry pie a local specialty because of the local Maine blueberrys (and lobster rolls if you're a seafood lover).

Get out to Peggy's Cove! Spectacular views.

Saint John, New Brunswick Did not visit port

Extremely high winds forced the port officials to close the port. Anthem was turned back out to sea.
