pretty comfortable ship, good shows but too many unsupervised kids at times, and sour attitudes at some food stations

Review summary

cruise was good overall the food was delicious. there were too many kids and the ship crew did nothing it seemed to control or raise awareness. I go on royal to avoid the rowdiness that carnival or child focused cruises cater to. staff involved in eating areas did not look good.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
easy quick a little confusing because there weren't any signs. but we were able to get through quicker than we had anticipated

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
the ship was easy to learn in order to get from point a to point b. the esplanade seemed rather cramped. I feel that they didn't really use the ship's space that effectively. not a lot of drink options - seems that the selection is watered down due to the popularity of the drink packages. and if you aren't drinking alcohol the wait staff don't really care about you pretty much anywhere on the boat.

The Café@TWO70

poor attitude from day one from the sandwich lady with a tatoo on her forearm. she seemed annoyed to be asked to do anything or to ask her about what's in a sandwich. there was a meat carver who started throwing chip bags at kids after they politely asked for a lays chip bag. the kids were like "okay" and the person kept throwing chip bags on the counter and saying "take it take all of them they are free" in a sarcastic demeaning way.

Coastal Kitchen

3 out of 5

coastal kitchen was a good experience. their food was better than the main dining for the most part. I felt more constricted in this place due to the poor sitting situation. the chairs aren't comfortable and at times i felt too close to someone that was eating beside me. i like privacy and it was too quiet in there where I felt that people could hear my conversation and too cramped... and i know that the crew knows who's got full access to the coastal and I think they treated those people better than someone with a jr. suite..

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
weren't able to sit by the pool or the solarium no one would get up from their seats or lounges and people would clip a towel in order to prevent others from taking a chaise. kind of upset on that there isn't enough room for all that.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
for the most part everyone was polite - some seemed more tense than others.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
most places were good and clean but the seaplex felt dirty and made me wonder why they have a hotdog stand in there when it smells like sweat...the toilets by the main dining areas were dirty too.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
great room, very clean but there were some noises coming from around the cabin that sounded like the cabinets or doors were gonna fall on you. still can't understand what was happening.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

Port Canaveral, Florida

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island) Did not visit port

they weren't able to "dock" or "tender" us to the island which is crap. they own the thing and should have built a pier by now. they need to reimburse for that stop...I felt swindled from a port of call.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
our walking tour was very difficult due to poor pedestrian sidewalks and etc where our walking tour led us but the city didn't not feel as grimy or ominous as other towns do.

You To oceanwaver, the lack of social couth is my problem, not the kids. Parents don't parent and I have the displeasure of having to be polite not say anything when kids are innapropriate or running around during functions. Apparently you aren't keen to social norms.

It’s a shame the parents of said horrible kids don’t realise that not everyone is as impressed with their kids as they are!

2 words... Spring Break. I do not enjoy rowdy kids, that is why we choose our dates & itinerary accordingly. The crew is not responsible for the kids, that would be the parents.

I feel sorry for the kids who have to put up with miserable moaning passengers
