Review summary

Short 5-day cruise. Ship was magnificent and massive. We hit rough seas on Wednesday sailing back to Bayonne. My wife became sea sick in the evening. Bummer. Wouldn't do such a short cruise again.

Embarkation was smooth, as expected.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The main dining room, Silk, is not as grand (multi-deck) as on other RCI Ships. The Royal Promenade's snack joint . . Sorrento's??, was constantly busy. We had a late snack almost every night.

Entertainment

The Journey Tribute Band was excellent! Also, the Cabaret show we saw in Two70 was magnificent. Bravo for both!!

Children's Programs

Our two grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the cruise. The both made new friends.

Service and Staff

The dining room - Silk - wait staff members, Dwi and Hevoje (Tom) were superb. The "fish of the day" Wednesday night dinner - Covino, was not good at at all; perhaps it was the way it was prepared and served. The Sunday night dinner of, I am recalling, Prime Rib??, prepared medium, was very sub par - very dry. The Windjammer was excellent as usual, except for the so called "Caribbean Colors" on Wednesday. There was not much tail meat in the dish, however, there were plenty of other cuts of beef. In our 2016 RCI cruise to Aruba, Curacao and other islands, we had a true "Caribbean Night", which the Anthem should copy. Additionally, offering hand-washing capabilities before entering the Windjammer is a necessity. Finally, if wine is included with the meal at any of the specialty restaurants, please advise your guests. By not advising . . . . the perceived experience is . . . get the customer to pay, but do not deliver all that is paid for means a "gain/added revenue" for the seller. Seems like deception! In addition, it could lead to more table sales . . . . . . . . considering that RCI shamelessly monetizes just about EVERY BLOODY THING on the cruise, which ultimately diminishes RCI's guests' experiences. Please rethink.

Ship Quality

Magnificent cleanliness!!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin did its job. It was spacious, considering. The beds were comfortable, except for the hard corner edges of the pull out bed. I constantly bumped my knee on it when re-entering the cabin from the balcony. Ouch! The bathroom's sink, and it's ledge were in the right place (unlike an RCI ship I was on about 10 years ago where the sink was actually "IN THE CABIN" next to the mirror.

Ship tip

The cabin has a safe. Use it for your valuable. It was simply weird to see women strutting around with their pocketbooks aboard ship, out on the high seas, while just hanging out, supposedly on vacation . . . . . Just an observation . . .

No excursion. Walked about the town both days. Visited the nearby beach.

Directions for this process needs to be clearer, so that the line(s) is/are not so long.
