Anthem of the Seas

7 Night Bahamas (Cape Liberty Roundtrip)

Cabin type: Balcony

Cabin number: 8254

Traveled as: Family (older children)

Review summary

Due to rough seas we were not able to exit the ship at Cococay. Other than a brief PA announcement by the Capt there was NO effort by RCCL to make amends for the failure to complete the cruise advertised port calls. On another cruise we had to skip a port call but that Captain looped back to allow a port call...

Seriously! The ship doesn't have to make "amends" for rough seas. You are on the ocean! That'll happen sometimes. If it makes it unsafe to go to the port because of the rough seas than consider yourself lucky the captain had your safety in mind and not sticking to the advertised itinerary.

What kind of time you think you would of had? Not a great beach day.Stay aboard and chill.

They miss this port all the time or the weather is not good from what I have heard. Maybe they should just take it off the itinerary.

I agree with Sarahs58. Make lemonade with those lemons....then add some alcohol and relax!

The cruise contract states that changes can be made to the itinerary. It would be impossible to attempt to layout every possible 'if we miss this port while the ship is in this position" scenario ahead of time. There are many ships from many lines all using the same ports. They do the best they can under no legal or moral obligation to reach all the ports as advertised

Thanks for the review - routes that frequently have to scrub ports should be questioned. Skippers and Hotel Managers should get together in advance and map out possible replacements for ports that are "iffy."

And here is another moaner. Just think you are incredibly blessed to be able to go on cruises. Enjoy your life, if you miss a port just accept it, go and get another drink, make the most of the ship and be grateful.

They have to get permission to dock anywhere. They can't just pull the ship into a port.

Don't be a crybaby. The Captain's number one priority is your safety. You should appreciate that. We have been on six cruises to Labadee. We have only made it off the ship THREE of those cruises. We also missed Hubbard Glacier on an Alaskan Cruise due to a fatality on the Seward Hwy. Our only concern was the poor family of the man who lost their husband and father. You have to keep things in perspective.
