Review summary

I do enjoy Vacation Outlet and will continue to book our cruises through them- If you want allot of elderly people who do not have the patience for anyone younger , than the Anthem of the Seas is for you- If you enjoy being nickel and dimed to death , than this is the Ship for you and if you are not worried about what you will be eating and you don't enjoy food you will enjoy this ship. Better to book another ship with the Royal Caribbean, this one will disappoint you !

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
The food was not up to Royal Caribbean standards at all- meat was tough, food served was luke warm when served and you knew the food was under the heat lamps way too long as the potatoes were hard. The restaurants all had the same menus pretty much every night , not much variety at all- very disappointing as the Explorer was superb!

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
This ship appeared to nickel and dime everyone- charging for the Sauna is ridiculous and outrageous- bingo was expensive not enough going on at the pool for sure- the shopping semiars are long and tedious as your staff at the stores are indignant over the fact that shopping

Entertainment

1 out of 5
The Gift was great, Synergy was wonderful the piano player was awful... does someone have a deaf ear??? No variety for sure- If you had the late sitting you missed allot and Rock of Ages played what two days???? Not enough music and dancing for sure- you had a Latino club what about a western dancing club???? Dueling pianos would be a great add on for sure and make more lounges on this ship - that ionic bar was a joke and a waste of space

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
From the comments of the folks with children , the kids had a much better time than the adults !

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Dipeesh our server was good but appeared that he could have used more help. He was upbeat and always willing to go the extra mile, Jerry who assisted him was great . Our party of 6 who have cruised prior was also disappointed in the dining situation. How sad that the last day of the cruise the staff in the dining area was not acknowledged. Bring back the grand dining room if I wanted to go to a restaurant I would have chosen another vacation. Your specialty restaurants menus were mediocre to say the least how does this work for you? This was a very impersonal experience and the staff was no way enthusiastic - it is not the staff's fault by any means someone in management should be held responsible - The staff at the front desk said they did not like the food either is anyone listening???????

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabin was nice , it would have been great if someone told us our luggage could fit under the bed and if someone told us there were bathrobes we could have enjoyed using

Ship tip

Don't make a late eating reservation-

I just canceled my Athem of the Seas cruise in May. So glad I did.

@tank1313 - the Anthem of the Seas, like all her sisters, is a ship - not a boat. Boats are those things hanging from the davits!

I love RCCL and cruising, but beware, they missed the mark on this ship, as the originator notes. The age thing can vary by time of year and itinerary, and I enjoy cruising with my kids and without them, but this ship is boring and average no matter what age/kid situation.

I've been on 15 Royal Caribbean Cruises And they all have been wonderful , I'm so looking forward to Anthem, the most innovative ship on the world!!

Perhaps you should have booked the kiddie cruise on carnival??

Was this ship really that bad? I'm going in April. Been hearing the food was bad a lot. What about the windjammer market place? Was any place good?
