Review summary
The Anthem of the Seas is a beautiful ship. There was plenty of activities on board during our transatlantic voyage. The shows and entertainment was top notch from the show We Will Rock You to the Farewell Show with Pete Mathews a terrific comedian/juggler and everything in-between. We had a lot of laughs at cruise mainstays like the Love and Marriage game show and the Silent Disco. One issue we had was seating at the shows. It seemed that you had to arrive EXTREMELY early at all shows to get a seat, even at shows that you had reservation for. I can see getting to shows within 15-30 mins of showtime that you had a reservation would be adequate but it seemed it was not. We arrived 30-mins ahead of time and still did not get adequate seating, even with a reservation.
There were also some service issues with the dining staff, especially in the Windjammer (Buffet) where it seemed they were sluggish clearing tables which presented seating problems. The food in the complementary restaurants was just about average but the meal we had in the Chops Grille (extra charge) was stellar! I also must mention that there was some great staff on-board as well and the service from these individuals was great!
I gave the overall rating 4 out of 5 Stars because it truly is a fantastic ship. One final mention must go out to the Captain! Crossing the Atlantic Ocean in November is a challenge in itself but, we had a pretty rough 4-days to start the cruise with seas up to 35 feet. Captain Claus was terrific in communicating with us on the weather and the seas and we looked forward to his daily noon weather update. He and his bridge crew did everything possible in trying to minimize the rocking of ship. He and his crew is truly one of the best in the biz. I'm sure a Caribbean cruise out of New Jersey would be spectacular on this ship!

Ship tip
Arrive early to any of the shows you really want a good seat. They fill up really fast and people don't leave so it can be very difficult to get any seat and some. Try the Chops Grille if you are interested in a great meal.....
