You would need to have internet access to use Shipmate app onboard. The app was built so that it automatically recognizes when you have network access, and the available features will adjust based on whether or not you’re online. Interactive features, such as the newsfeed, photos, chat, and direct messaging will not work without WiFi and an internet plan on a cruise ship.

It doesn’t, you and your group members will need to download The Royal app to message each other.

The Royal Caribbean app allows chat with other passengers without an Internet pkg.
