Review summary
Pros: Our room, although dated, was immaculate. All staff were always available and gave 110%. Room service was timely and the food was good, even though portions were small. The ship is well designed, with good signage, and small enough that it would be hard to get lost. It was a perfect trip to rest. Cons: We have heard many times over the years that Holland America has the best food, and booked the line specifically for that reason. The buffet mostly offered standard, basic American food, which was not kept sufficiently warm on the steam table to still be warm, even on the heated plate, by the time you got to a table. We did not go to the main dining room, but heard from other passengers that the food was good and desserts weren't anything special, which leads us to believe the were the same offered at the buffet. The worst problem was the intense vibration every time the ship cruised at 21 knots or more. This was our 4th cruise (2nd to Alaska), and have never had this issue before. Amsterdam was to make one more run to Alaska and then head over to the Mediterranean. Hope nobody booked a trip on that relocation run.Ship experiences
