San Juan Island hopping in the Puget Sound by Gilliancruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: American Spirit / Destination: River Cruises - United States

We were truly amazed at the spaciousness and cleanliness of our cabin and remained so throughout the duration of our cruise. There was a variety of excursions to choose from each day, the on-board enrichment programs were marvelous as well as the nightly entertainment. Every day we had the most delicious meals expertly prepared and followed by a variety of delectable desserts.

Best way ever to beat the summer heat by diane4art

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: American Spirit / Destination: River Cruises - United States

I live in Florida so cool weather options are always great in summer. I had been to the area before and loved it, so this cruise was a great way to see the San Juan Islands. I have cruised on American CruiseLine several times before and love the intimacy of a small ship. There were less than 100 passengers. Every one of the stops were fabulous. Friday Harbor, Paulsbo and Port Angeles were my personal favorites. The flowers were so abundant. We also went to Victoria, Canada by ferry on an excursion. I loved it. Such a beautiful city. I am pretty fit for 72 but I was totally impressed with the care that the entire staff took to help those who needed it. The entire ship is American made and staffed. The entertainment was also great. Such variety. Hard to say who was my favorite. Often, we were all singing along. I highly recommend this cruise. I hope you get an opportunity to go on it. You won't be disappointed.

Sold on Small Ship Cruising by Mesajandc

Ship: American Spirit / Destination: River Cruises - United States

We've been on 50+ cruises over the years, and lately we have very much enjoyed the small ship ambience found on American Cruise Lines. I think what keeps people coming back is the friends is the ease with which you can travel to unique American destinations. Also, it's so easy to meet fellow travelers and share the journey together.

Best way to see Puget Sound by GWSilver

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: American Spirit / Destination: River Cruises - United States

ACL has this approach to cruising figured out. The ships match the ports, the shore and sea excursions match the guests interests, and the staff provide a complete support program to ensure all guests expectations are met. The ACL staff was remarkably competent and compatible, The guest lecture and artist were highly talented and professional. The entertainers fit into the overall concept as did all the shore excursion people we met. We had a similar experience on ACL's 2019 Hudson River Cruise, so it is our hope we will find this everywhere ACL goes.

Amazing Puget Sound Cruise by Begator

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: American Spirit / Destination: River Cruises - United States

We had a great experience with American Cruise Lines on our trip to Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. Their staff went out of their way to make sure that we really enjoyed ourselves. The excursions were informative and fun (especially Hurricane Ridge - Olympic National Park, the Seattle city tour and Victoria, BC)! A special shout out to the cruise line staff - director, wait staff and housekeeping for making this a memorable and enjoyable trip! There were great menu options for every meal. The sunsets from the top of the ship were unbelievable. Also, the onboard evening entertainment was a plus. Because it was a small ship experience and the dining style was open, we were able to meet and make many new friends from all over.

Beautiful Weather in Puget Sound by LCCR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: American Spirit / Destination: River Cruises - United States

We choose this cruise for the weather. We live in the high desert and cooler temps were beckening for this time of the year. We enjoyed the mid 70's to low 80's during the day and 50's at night. We might have choose this cruise for the weather but was very impressed with American Cruise Lines.

Small Ship Cruising the Ideal Way by CraftingCrazy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: American Spirit / Destination: River Cruises - United States

You already surmised from my review comments above that I love small ship sailing and the American Cruise Line. What is not to love--while onboard there are no charges for dinner drinks/cocktails. Excursion tour fees are minimal and not charged till you are home. Staff & food are exceptional. Onboard is as busy as you want it to be. Entertainment top notch. If you want to try small cruise sailing then American Cruise Line is the way to go!

Fantastic Cruise; Wonderful People by megmerritt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: American Spirit / Destination: River Cruises - United States

My husband and I -- both frequent travelers with American Cruises Lines -- had a wonderful time cruising the Puget Sound and San Juan Islands. Since we are from the East Coast, these two weeks gave us the opportunity to visit a part of the country with which we were unfamiliar. And, because of the length of the journey, we got a chance to participate in lots of wonderful excursions. Getting a chance to take a jet boat adventure was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. And the whale watching is not to be missed. Not even were the whales visible during the whale-watching excursions, they were visible on many occasions -- one of which it seemed that two of them decided to put on a performance for we travelers. Fun and exciting! While all of the excursions were worthwhile, highlights included Hurricane Ridge, the Lavender Farm and Deception Pass. Also, among the many positives with an ACL cruise is the spacious room and wonderful bath. We had plenty of room and storage space to accommodate all our needs. Finally, though, the most important plus we have found with every ACL cruise is the staff -- always helpful, courteous, and smiling. They are especially gracious and helpful to passengers that need a little extra help. All ACL passengers are blessed with such a fine group of people.

Over-priced by ralph95121

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: American Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Waste of time and money, except for jetboat ride. Shuttle provided only one way (ship to airport only). Too many people coughing at end of trip. Not enough food choices

(do not expect bbq ribs or roast turkey). Not much to do except eat 6 times a day (7 hours a day),

good breakfast. Tour bus excursions too short (had to get back to happy

hour and dinner). Walking tours a joke (over priced). Too rainy and foggy to see or take any pictures,

unless you like fish market or whale watching. Be prepared to use the exercise equipment

to get rid of all those calories. Live bands OK, but singers too loud and screechy. Everything on cruise can be done at one-tenth the cost

by driving instead. Over-priced shore excursions.

Toilet flushed only half the time. Too slow to refill.

San Juan Island Tulip Cruise by Popeye09

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: American Spirit

We selected the San Juan Islands Tulip Festavil Cruise to visit Skagit Valley for the annual tulip festival held every April. It rivals visiting the fields of Holland without the oversea's travel. We spent time in Tulip Towne and were given a private escorted tour of the farm operations. It was very informative and educational. Anyone with an interest in gardening would love it. The cruise also spent a day in Victoria BC with an opportunity to visit the world famous Butchart Gardens. They have 6 separate gardens including Japenese, Italian, Rose and the famous sunken garden. People travel here from all over the world and it truly is a spectacular place. The criuse also includes traveling the San Juan Islands and stopping in numerous scenic ports like Friday Harbor, Port Angeles and Fort Townsend. There are numerous day trios to chose from in each port so there is always something for everyone. The food was exceptional on this boat. With a smaller ship the service is personal and first class.
