San Juan Island hopping in the Puget Sound by Gilliancruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: American Spirit / Destination: River Cruises - United States

We were truly amazed at the spaciousness and cleanliness of our cabin and remained so throughout the duration of our cruise. There was a variety of excursions to choose from each day, the on-board enrichment programs were marvelous as well as the nightly entertainment. Every day we had the most delicious meals expertly prepared and followed by a variety of delectable desserts.

Best way ever to beat the summer heat by diane4art

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: American Spirit / Destination: River Cruises - United States

I live in Florida so cool weather options are always great in summer. I had been to the area before and loved it, so this cruise was a great way to see the San Juan Islands. I have cruised on American CruiseLine several times before and love the intimacy of a small ship. There were less than 100 passengers. Every one of the stops were fabulous. Friday Harbor, Paulsbo and Port Angeles were my personal favorites. The flowers were so abundant. We also went to Victoria, Canada by ferry on an excursion. I loved it. Such a beautiful city. I am pretty fit for 72 but I was totally impressed with the care that the entire staff took to help those who needed it. The entire ship is American made and staffed. The entertainment was also great. Such variety. Hard to say who was my favorite. Often, we were all singing along. I highly recommend this cruise. I hope you get an opportunity to go on it. You won't be disappointed.

Sold on Small Ship Cruising by Mesajandc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: American Spirit / Destination: River Cruises - United States

We've been on 50+ cruises over the years, and lately we have very much enjoyed the small ship ambience found on American Cruise Lines. I think what keeps people coming back is the friends is the ease with which you can travel to unique American destinations. Also, it's so easy to meet fellow travelers and share the journey together.

Good breakfast, but too much time eating and drinking. Over-priced shore excursions. bus tours too short. transportation to ship one way only (to airport). jetboat ride fun. Can do everything at one-tenth the cost by driving. Not worth it.

I think smaller sailing ships are more informal and friendlier. It definitely is very small compared to the huge cruise ships but that is what I love about sailing with ACL. There is still always something to do--even if that something is taking a nap in the middle of the day after walking the town! Food is always served hot with a personal touch, entertainment is top notch, towns are waiting to be explored---why would you want anything more?? I certainly don't!
