Review summary

Loved it and highly recommend. The ship, staff, and tours were all exceptional. The only disappointment was the food in the Main Dining Room. I will definitely consider AmaWaterways for a future cruise!

Embarkation

Quick, smooth, efficient (I had previously registered online) and received a warm welcome.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The main dining room lunch and dinner entrees provided great variety, ingredients, and presentation. But the actual food taste and flavorings bordered on tasteless, soggy, and bland; the fish offerings were overcooked and bland as well. We were surprised and disappointed as we expected a much higher caliber of cooking. We ate at the Chef's Table three nights and the tasting menu was superior compared to the Main Dining Room cooking.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

4 out of 5
La Strada was excellent and the one "Disco" night was fun. The only issue for Disco night was that Tomas(sp?) refused to take requests from the group (there were only 8 of us in the entire lounge). As the music was digital, we were disappointed by Tomas' response.

Children's Programs

There were no kinds or programs.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Sebastien (Tour Director) was nothing short of incredible. He was affable, accessible, extremely knowledgeable, great sense of humor and always monitoring the tour groups (he was great at materializing at different times!). It's not easy dealing with so many personalities and Sebastien handled everyone with professionalism and humor. Our room steward (Pavlova?) kept our room spotless, comfortable, and always with a smile. Alex (maître de) was friendly, always with a smile, and professional. One exception: There was one waiter (older gentleman) in the Main Dining Room who appeared to be a bit too brash, thought much of himself, and lacked the overall graciousness exhibited by the other wait staff.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Great in all aspects, love the sundeck's outdoor carpeting.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Great, efficient use of space, and also appreciated the one 110V outlet. Although small, storage areas were excellent and the bathroom was excellent (great shower pressure and appreciated the blue night light).

Ship tip

Try to eat at the Chef's Table more than once.

Pretty town and had a fun castle tour in the evening (lots of antlers!). It was dark and pouring rain at the end of our tour but we all had fun getting back to the ship!

Linz (Salzburg), Austria Did not visit port

We opted for the Cesky-Krumlov tour: amazing!

Well orchestrated and organized. We took the extended tour to Regensberg, Germany (great town) and then spent two nights in Prague (it was nice that Sebastien joined our group).
