Nice relaxing trip by poneill331

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: AmaPrima

It was a very nice cruise. English speaking guides were for the most part very informative and interesting. A lot of walking was required to partake of the city tours, so keep that in mind if there is a mobility issue. We walked about 45 miles during the entire cruise. There are "gentle" walking tours, however, we found that the guides did not make any exception in endurance and/or speed while giving their presentations. This was a huge problem for several of us who did use the gentle tour. Feedback was given in the cruise survey that guides need to be aware of mobility issues. I do feel that more activities should be included with the off-ship tours, not just talking about buildings/churches. Maybe if music and/or demonstrations while on land could be scheduled prior to guests arriving to ports, that would make the excursions more enjoyable and memorable.

Many locks. by Cruiser3870704

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: AmaPrima / Destination: River Cruises - Europe

The whole cruise was wonderful.  If there was one thing to change it would be the bedding.  The duvet on the bed is too hot.  They happily changed it to blankets, but have no top sheets so use a duvet cover for the top sheet.  I noticed this in hotels also..

The weather was perfect.  it never rained once and the days were almost always sunny and warm.  The staff was always smiling and happy to see us. The tours were always interesting.  Learned a lot about history.

I was amazed at the number of locks and how deep they were.  It was a fascinating trip and i am glad i went.

Tulip Time Cruise by jantilford

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: AmaPrima / Destination: River Cruises - Europe

The staff was outstanding with great people skills.  We were upgraded to a French balcony, which we loved.  We think we liked it better than either a full balcony, as we could lie on the bed and have the pocket glass wall door totally open, breeze blowing into the room, and watch the scenery.

The excursions were extremely well organized and without hassle.  There were more options that we wanted than we were able to take.  Generally, the cruise guides were outstanding.  It was amazing that there was no additional charges for the excursions.

I loved that we were not "nickel and dimed" to death on the cruise.  There was never a mention of money until the end of the cruise, concerning tips.  This has not been our experience on other cruise lines!  And we have cruised about 20 times.!

There could have been a little improvement with the special gluten free diet I had alluded to in my customer profile.  It was very confusing the first 2 days of the cruise, although the maître de was trying his hardest.  The kitchen just didn't seem prepared and, sorry to say, had the absolute worst gluten free bread that I have ever tasted.  Products such as Schwar dinner rolls (European), Pamela's Pastry Flour or Pancake Mix, Gluten Free Bisquick, Udi's French Bread and French Rolls and Breads, Glutino English Muffins are available and would have probably saved the bakers some grief.  As the trip progressed, the kitchen rose to the occasion, but I got the impression that it was not easy for them.

I have to say, that my massage fees were waived because of the gluten free problems the first two days, which was very thoughtful.  The Ama baseball hat in the room and scarf were also very thoughtful.

The entertainment was surprisingly good every night.  The cruise manager and maître de were fabulous and always available.

Entry and exit of the ship was smooth and flawless--I had to pinch myself that it was so easy, after waiting in long long boarding and exiting lines on other cruise ships.

Great cruise!  Would go on Ama again.

Dream Vacation by Cruiser56012048

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: AmaPrima / Destination: River Cruises - Europe

Everything was above expectations--Amaprima was clean, decorated beautifully for Christmas, staff was always courteous and kind.  Excursions were fun, adventurous and informative.  Guided tours were just long enough to provide information about city, town or place allowing enough time for Christmas markets.  The only thing that could be improved was the wait time for dinner for each course--a little slow, maybe short staffed in that area.  Otherwise, an absolute wonderful vacation.

Great trip on the Danube... by Bruin76

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: AmaPrima / Destination: Europe

The ship was new and modern.  The internet, while free, is often not working; same with the TV.  This was the biggest downfall.  The food was plentiful and excellent.  The wine and beer flowed freely at lunch and dinner, and champagne was self serve at breakfast.  (all included).  The cruise director was very helpful with planning independent touring, and the ship provided guided tours were all very good.  We never used the pool or sundeck due to inclement weather, however, they would have been used, if warmer and drier!  Rooms are not large, but we knew this when we booked.  We had enough space, although we are normally accustomed to junior suites on ships.  The bathroom was challenging.  The only electrical socket was inside the medicine cabinet, so to use it, you would not be able to simultaneously use the mirror....driving blindly.  I would liked to have had more light in the bathroom.  We used the laundry service which was very fast, efficient, and generally returned the same day.  The prices were much less than standard hotel pricing.  Most items were 1.2 Euros; higher if you requested ironing.  I also used the hair salon.  The stylist was very good on my challenging hair, and again, much less expensive than hotel pricing.  Since there is only one on board, she does tend to book up, so appointments made early on would be a good idea.  There is a small gym on board that was either empty or full all the time!  I would certainly consider using them again.
