Covid Cruise by tt20

Overall it was a great cruise, but getting Covid on the cruise made the whole experience a bummer. Many others sick too from Covid after the cruise.

Overall this Royal Caribbean Allure was wonderful. Great energy. The Superbowl was a hit. Beautiful ship. Well kept and clean. Very spacious. With 6000 people aboard you never felt crowded.

Great time on the water by tadpolejoel2002

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Allure of the Seas

We had an experience on Nassau that people should be aware of. At froggys bar the waitress charged us 54 dollars for 2 drinks and when I gave her 60 she never brought my change back. Then next door at a t-shirt store the front gal changed out 2 shirts out of 5 that we bought for something else we didn't want. So you have to ask questions and make sure you get what you want. Other than that it was a fun port.

Nice short get away by cpmasn

Number 37 is in the books!!!! I guess I'm more of a fan of 7 night or longer cruises as in my experience, the quality seems to be better. I am a real loyal to royal type so my review could be considered a bit biased but I always try to give a fair shake when it comes to reviews. If I am to be fair, I would say the MDR service was great but the food was average. This is not just a Royal issue either as I said before. This seems to be an industry issue where the food quality is sub-par in an effort to get the customer to pay for specialty dinning options. 20 years ago, it was an experience in the MDR but today it's cafeteria food served with a smile. My other issue is the gratuities have gotten out of hand as they only take care of your cabin once a day!!!!!! I believe you should tip when you get great service and not the other way around. We pay the gratuities through the onboard account and give extra when we see great service but the cruise lines need to watch all the nickel and diming as this will eventually turn people away (Gratuities on a 7 night cruise are $252) I tell people that the price of a cruise is the easy part lol!!!! It's all the rest that most people never consider that gets you. In my humble opinion, spend the money on a nice balcony and enjoy the peaceful time you get to smell the sea air and forget about all the issues at home. The Allure of the Seas does check off the boxes when you score her overall experience. The food could be better but if you do some specialty dining (great venues and still cheaper than paying for higher end cruises) it's a great little vacation and booking through makes it easy

Amazing First Cruise by alex20000901

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Allure of the Seas

This was our first cruise and to be honest, it was a very great experience. I would definitely recommend Allure of the Seas to my friends and family members. Great food and easy to get around the ship. Their customer service was over the top and very friendly. We will be going on another cruise through Royal Caribbean for sure.

This is a great cruise to give you a taste of an Oasis style ship. Lots to do with many options for dining, bars, and shows.

The main dining room was definitely 5 star service. The staff always spoke when we passed. Great memories were made on this cruise.

The Allure is looking very tired and the food is meh this time by Reboot2024

Honestly, I don't know if anyone will even read this so I hesitate to share. The main problem was that I have some expectations from RCCL that are usually met, but fell FAR short this cruise. The Quest was cancelled, the Battle of the Sexes was cancelled, formal night had turned into Caribbean night, and it was because there was a dance competition onboard which affected many of the things we've grown to love and expect onboard. This would be fine if you had TOLD US WHEN BOOKING. If we'd known, we'd have chosen a different cruise because we REALLY love those things! We are fine with the new once a day cabin cleaning, but the room steward asked us what time we'd like to have our rooms cleaned. We told him, he marked it down, then when we returned towards the end of that window he asked us again. We were like, uh, you asked and we said 9 to 11? Room wasn't cleaned before noon on any of the days, and when your cruise director talks about towel animals and there isn't one ever, it's a bummer. We are tidy non-drinkers, so it's not like going into our room would be a horrendous undertaking. If you're not going to clean when you say, then don't ask us and create expectations that we plan around and are then disappointed. And don't have your cruise director talk about towel animals if it's not something everyone gets. Food in the main dining room was consistently tepid to cold, which was a first for me. Our wait staff was fine but the food took so long to come out that we ended up sitting there with nothing in front of us for long periods of time. There was a woman who came by to ask us if we were happy, but we didn't feel comfortable saying "hey, we've been sitting here with nothing on the table for 15 minutes" because she could obviously see that and we didn't want to be those people. The upsides for us were the as always fantastic shows and live music. When I told my friend that the aqua show would be amazing, I was so happy that she loved it. But I spent a lot of the weekend being embarrassed that the service and food just wasn't there. And I don't think that's normal for RCCL. Or, I hope it's not normal for RCCL. I know the Allure should have gone into dry dock to get Amped before the pandemic, and I feel like it's a mistake to keep her in service doing the shorter trips (which I love and which works really well with my schedule), without making her beautiful again and without making the level of service consistent with the rest of the line. We have an upcoming cruise in August on the Quantum with our adult daughters, I'm now a little nervous and I hope I made the right choice to stick with RCCL for our first Alaska cruise-everyone is telling me I should have gone Disney, but we've never sailed on a Quantum class ship and I am sincerely hoping that the service is what we're used to, and what I experienced on the Allure this weekend was an aberration. One last thing-in 2023 I did the same cruise with my friend on the Mariner, and the smell of pot was really, really bad. This cruise on the Allure I didn't smell it once, and I really appreciate y'all for making sure that our vacation was not stinky! Mariner won for food and service, Allure won for shows and not smelling drugs. Moving forward, the Quantum trip in August is sort of our "make or break" trip where we decide if we want to keep leveling up with RCCL or pivot to a different line. I love RCCL, but I loathe inconsistency of experience.
