Review summary
Allure of the Seas was our favorite cruise ship experience. My family fell in love with Oasis Class ships. We enjoyed the ship design and layout, included activities and entertainment. The ship provided a wide variety of activity and entertainment options with something that would appeal to everyone. Our cabins were close to the elevators and the entrance to Central Park. My husband and I loved walking through Central Park and feeling the elements of the weather in the center of the ship. It was hard to believe we were in the center of a cruise ship and able to feel the sun or look up at the stars. Note: It was a little rainy with light showers one day but umbrellas were provided at the entrances/exits. We found the light shower refreshing and loved the smell of the rain. Butterflies -- we saw a couple butterflies flying around the bushes and trees a we entered Central Park one morning -- was pleasantly amazed and impressed. The Boardwalk was another innovative design we appreciated. I could not wait to ride the carousel to say that I rode a carousel on a cruise ship. My husband really enjoyed eating at the Dog House on the Boardwalk. He said it truly reminded him of a stopping for a bite to eat during a walk along the beach. We enjoyed the high adrenaline stunt show by the performers in the Aquatheater. Don't sit in the areas that are disclosed as wet areas if you're not ready and willing to get wet because some of the people sitting there got drenched. I signed our girls up for the cupcake decorating class that was on the Boardwalk at Cups & Scoops. They really enjoyed decorating and eating their cupcakes. Our family enjoyed the ice skating show as well as the talent demonstrated by the performers. Don't miss the Rising Tides bar if you're looking for a unique way to enjoy a drink. It's a bar and elevator in one. If you think it would be neat to have a robot make you a drink be sure to visit the Bionic Bar. We reserved 2 cabins for our family of 4, with my husband and I in one and our girls in a connecting cabin. Our room steward was kind enough to open the divider between our balconies so that it made it easy for us to access each others rooms and enjoy a longer balcony with room for all of us to sit at once. We enjoyed breakfast on our balcony several times. Usually my husband or I would visit the buffet and bring breakfast back for us to eat on the balcony. My only complaints about our cabin was not having a bar in the shower to shave my legs, and not having individual locks on the connecting doors. When my husband and I wanted privacy we couldn't get it as we had no way to lock our girls out. Hopefully these design flaws were corrected in the last 5 years. Other than those 2 minor complaints our cruise on the Allure was near perfect. Only other complaint had nothing to do with the ship but was a change in itinerary from St. Thomas to San Juan. I love St. Thomas but don't care much for San Juan.Embarkation
