Review summary

We have sailed many times with Royal Caribbean and this one by far has been the worst overall. We do believe it was due to the destination and the length of the cruise that we had so many complaints. This is our Hope that Royal is not just dropping the ball. This specific Cruise on this specific ship is exactly what I envision carnival to be. A dirty, overcrowded party ship. I would not do this again.

Embarkation

From pulling up to the port to getting on the ship was less than 15 minutes and was smooth. No issues getting on and getting settled for us to leave port.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
For this Cruise specifically I was very underwhelmed by the food offered. We only went to main dining one night for the experience. Although the staff was wonderful, the food was just mediocre. The night we went prime rib was recommended and it was the chewiest meat I've ever had. The windjammer was as expected very busy and basic food. We did eat here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner time. Lunch was always the busiest and the fellow cruisers were very rude and pushy. But the food is what you would expect at a general buffet. You could get basically what you would get in the main dining room in the windjammer at dinner time. So you might as well go to the windjammer to get it.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The activities were disappointing as well. We are a family of three which includes two adults and one teenager. I was highly upset that a lot of the teenager activities could not be done as a Solo traveler. I do understand teaming up but they need to make sure everyone gets a team that wants to participate. In regards to other activities the staff needs to know what they are doing during every activity. The pools and hot tub were impossible to ever get to and there was never any chairs available if you didn't go out first thing in the morning to claim your spot. Little kids overtook all the hot tubs as well horse playing in them. Other activities such as trivia and games etc need to be in bigger areas for more people to be able to participate.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
We have taken numerous trips with Royal Caribbean, and this has to be the biggest disappointment as a whole. The staff seemed burnt out with no passion. We saw our state room attendant the first day of arrival and asked for a bucket of ice in the evening. I was given a bucket of ice that evening on day one, but that same bucket was never picked up or refilled or even asked if I wanted a refill on ice because we never saw our state room attended again. He also folded out the couch for my son to sleep on on night one. The couch stayed out the whole trip in which you cannot use the vanity area with it open. I guess it has also changed that you do not get a new towel friend each day as we got one on day one and day 5. Most all of the food staff pushed surveys the whole time, some who will come just to talk to you and then tell you about the survey. We also got a very late night call from the main dining room to remind us about the survey. Let me end on a good note, the staff on CoCo cay were the best! They gave directions and made sure you always had a drink.

Ship Quality

This ship needs to be updated, elevators fixed, trash picked up out of the hallways of The State room and carpets need to be deep clean or replaced. Some of the toilets didn't even flush.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin 6578 was a typical balcony room. It was located close to the elevators at the front of the ship which was great. The bed was absolutely horrible and hard even with the topper, the air did not work well, and you did hear some something from the clubs in the evening but you're usually so tired you don't care.

Ship tip

Have low expectations.... hopefully,it will be better for you.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

CoCo cay was absolutely wonderful! Very bight and inviting, people were very helpful, they had trams everywhere, the food was excellent and they made sure you always had something to drink. The only thing was the pool was ice cold but then again it was February. Would go here again!

Hated this for our family. Very long walk from ship to the street to catch the bus to Atlantis and our leader was a speed walker.Atlantis was horrible! If you àre not in shape to walk miles and miles..Don't do this excursion! Before choosing this excursion,I chatted with Atlantis personnel if this would be fat friendly.. they told me yes. I guess their idea of fat was different. I chose this for the lazy river while our child did the slides....well, after walking a long distance through the hotel ,through outside corridors to finally come to a pool and very hard to understand maps,we found chairs to rest at an eating area because forget it if you wanted a lounger, they were all taken. After a brief rest,we had to chase an employee down to find lockers, she was super busy talking to her coworker to be bothered to help but pointed a general area. After getting a locker,we wanted to get wet and there was a lazy riverish ride called rapid river. This is the non fat friendly part... Yes, I'm a big girl ,I am very aware as I flipped my tube so I got a double for the support and it was fine. Within 10 seconds the rapids started and flipped me over and it kept me under water. The bottom scrapped me up. When I finally popped up all I could do was pray and hold my breath to get through the first part of the rapids. Then to have the lifeguard yell at me and say ma'am you can't be on a double raft get a single one was humiliating. Not are you okay. Luckily this was a spot you can get out. As we all left this ride we decided to go find the real lazy river. Of course we are back to the maps that are confusing and no real signage anywhere. We made it back to the beginning where there was a pool. I will say this was a nice big pool and didn't seem too crowded. After taking a few minutes we decided to go and find the lazy river. I cannot express how frustrating and long of a walk it was trying to find it. After going over a bridge and up the hill to get to the beach that was closed off because the winds were so high to backtrack and take another path that took us through a restaurant/bar up another Hill back to another part of the hotel. At this point we ran into another couple that were just as lost, they went ahead up the stairs to the hotel while we rested. They pop their head back out to say it was completely shut down. We were devastated .we then headed back to the pool. We spent hundreds of dollars to go to Atlantis to get in a pool. This was absolutely ridiculous. When we left we had no idea where we going we're going to be picked up at as we were let out in front of the hotel. After hanging out a bit by the hotel we noticed buses at the bottom of the hill. We asked the gentleman right outside of the hotel who were trying to get you to buy a taxi ride about the buses and they said they're at the bottom of the hill. So again we took a walk to the bottom of the hill to catch the bus. This for us was a completely wasted day on money and time.

Nice port to come and leave from.

Disembarkation

Arriving and leaving the ship was the best part. We were labeled as assisted when we wanted to take it ourselves. Guest services made it easy for us to switch over and leave with our own baggage.
